Okay, interesting craigslist yesterday, Meeting a guy at storage unit to sell a couch to them, He called me running late, rain delaying him because of beign on a motorcycle, meanwhile I get a email about said couch, asking if it would fit in a durango.  Guy shows up buys it, hauls it off. the the motor cycle guy an hour late shows up...   Thing is not the couch is GONE!!!  only a couple more items to  go.

A lot of them here look like this...  I just hate when you get in one and everthing is junk..  I could have scrapped this one, but my time was worth more to me than clearing this one and dumping it.  The people got a taste of what Storage Wars is like.  I got off with a couple nice items.  The Rotisserie oven was over worth over what I paid.

This is all part of the business..  Ebaying items, Craigslist, Yard sales..  I have a wonderful couch in a locker right now, that I haven't been able to move at all. But I made my money back on that locker already so might be a donation somewhere.

One of my best producers I looked worse that this one, and I double my money on it from one little box that was in the very back of the unit.. not counting all the other stuff that was in it.

I keep this picture around, to remind me, when I'm thinking about going too high on a unit.

Got this unit over the winter..  So not only crappy but really Cold!

I got two items from it that I kept, A new Counter top rotisserie oven and a Blow up Christmas yard decoration.

Other than that this unit had NO value to me,  The cord was cut off the vacuum cleaner, the pamps were broken, the weed eaters were missing batteries and cords.

I however listed it FREE on craigslist and found someone to come take it all.. They got some scrap items, a baby car seat that was okay, a microwave that looked usable. I did help the load it up though.  They might have made their gas money back if the scrapped it properly.   I was glad not to have to deal with it, it had several NASTY mattresses hiding in there too..

Things I have learned from this unit has been priceless thought.

#1 People will take anything for free
#2 If items in a bin are pre-priced chances are you are getting fleamarket or yardsale rejects.
#3 If there is a Crapper in the unit it might just be a sign.

This unit gave me nightmares on getting rid of it.. I was tempted to just let them have the security fee..  I feel it was a set up unit and will not buy from this chain of storage providers again.

I set the DVR to record the show, Watched one episode (well not the whole thing even) and then deleted the rest along with the timer for it.

Totally agree, furniture!!   So many thrift shops listing. I have had good luck sometimes.. Got a really nice couch listed on there now..  Not moving it out went from 300 down to 250 down to 200 - I want it gone... Taking up a lot of space in my storage unit (should auction the whole unit off)

Stories about Storage Auctions / Won Two units last week..

Competition was tough...  going for a lot more than they were worth..  I got two low ball units, one for $70 one for 10$ - The 70$ unit was nothing much but clothes, Couple purses, An obama bobble head, a Time warner cable remote control,  it was at least a small unit.. 5x5

The 10$ unit was a 5x15 unit, looked like total junk...  Found tubs of really classy gentleman's shoes... A stereo, New crock pot, new dishes, new kitchen container (for flour/sugar/etc) all matching in red.  A set of really nice speaker, an old school entertainment system, Dresser,  some sports bobble heads, couple nice pocket knives..  the tubs were not the typical rubber maid tubs, but nice sturdy tubs too.  also got a very unique bed with a couple tall things they go beside each side of the bed, with a overheard lighting attachment (vintage).  and a nice Microfiber suede couch. and some heavy solid brass planters.    not a fortune this week but should triple my money after taking into account my time..

What do you guys value your time at?? I figure my time is worth 25$ an hour so when I calculate my profits on it, that's what I deduct.. more so for my own records just to get an idea of what I am actually making.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Furniture ... Hidden in locker
« on: April 02, 2014, 08:11:53 AM »
I got a larger 10x20 last month..  It turned out very good also. Had several Brand new (nice) Suites one had a 300$ price tag on it, huge tie collection, some D&D figureines (alone they paid for the cost)  Record collection (Kept, right up my alley) Lots of tools, china, 4 pressure cookers, some huge pots for canning, and a Gentlemans dresser (armoir). and a bunch of old books (which has already paid for the unit cost alone too) By the time I move most of what was in that locker

I should clear about 2000$ counting the help I had to pay. and on top of that the storage people for a 25$ cleaning deposit was okay with clearing out the scraps, it sometimes pays to ask them..

Worst unit ever I broke even on by finding someone willing to remove the contents for them. I picked a few pieces out that covered the cost, and the gas involved. If you consider time I lost about 4 hours worth of it.
