given 14 days to pay and then the auction needed to be listed for 2 weeks. Is that accurate from what you all know?

Most states that I know of have to run a notice ( not positive)
Check your local paper for legal notices posted 2 weeks ago or last month till now and see if it was published. Also check other small local papers that may be cheaper for them to run the notice. most are on the internet so should be easy to find. The notice should list the Auction company.

My brother luckily is an attorney and legal proccedings are already in progress.

Thank You,
Stacy
If that is the case have him call the auctioneer. Look up the auctioneers web site and see if they state protection to the buyer by doing this or that, and if they offer protection to their buyers they will be responsible along with the storage facility for wrongful Lien, and sale

My husband said he is after the treasure's.( guy who can't see) A trash unit with a cabinet facing wrong direction and some old pumps pointed to a suitcase and said that is the only thing of interest to me.

He did buy a unit with a washer dryer and a china cabinet he offered it to someone for a $100. to load it and take it right then. He said the guy just left, told me at the next auction. I will be sticking close to him and offer to take what he does not want. : )

Plan your yard sale around the first of the month or the middle after the 15th.. That is when people get their checks from the government.( My retired Aunt loves yard sales) I had a yard sale that just happened to be the first pretty day in two weeks. Sun was out and so were the people.. Made over $600 dollars and did not do it on Sun. A few boxes to the goodwill.

General Storage Auction Talk / No Rain and no Locker
« on: October 18, 2011, 05:43:27 PM »
100% chance of rain and not one drop on the auctions. Went out to a caravan auction today. 11 units 4 facilities. Only our third day out at auctions but we were treated like a regular. Was able to replace the nick names with real names today. One part time auction hunter was very nice. Gave the scoop on the other regulars. One who takes forever in front of the units apparently does not see well. He bought a 5x5 full of boxes, The boxes were labelled funny Box # 2-a, The rest looked like trash aluminium cans and all. I think it was  business paper work he paid $350 for it I guess he could not see the labelling on the boxes. I felt bad I will keep an eye out for him. By the way he is a major player... Buys some really good Lockers. Any way the highest bid was $450 for 10x10 1/4 full. The rest were pretty reasonable prices. Average of 30 people at each location different faces.
10x20 full $175.

Going to our second auction run different auction company. Starts late today, early ones cancelled.. Looking forward to a nice rainy day here in sunny FL.  Will keep you posted on the crowd on a potentiality nasty day.

Would have to agree that you won on the $3000 unit. Do they realize they have to move that stuff and sell it to get their money back? No returns like Walmart..

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: A trend? Pre-cut locks...
« on: October 15, 2011, 08:42:21 PM »
Only been to two auctions this past week same auction company. All locks precut. Only saw two units that were questionable, but they were abandoned.. Looked like everything was pushed to the front and not full in the back. One was a 10x20 but you could only see first 5 feet it went for $ 800. But then there was another abandoned unit totally untouched 2 inches of dust.  Could be the manager knew the person with the abandoned unit and let them get their stuff and said stack everything to the front. Made note of which facility had the possible staged lockers. Don't think it was the auction company.
To new to be able to find out if they where bad.. I think a noobie got it.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Paying Sales tax vs Resale License
« on: October 14, 2011, 06:14:57 PM »
Just found this thread talks about sales tax the last comment is in Fl.

http://forum.purseblog.com/ebay-forum/should-i-pay-sales-tax-on-used-item-412974.html

So depending on how much and where you sell your items would be the deciding factor. Some flea markets want a copy of your sales tax certificate.  If you are going to run this like a business I would suggest getting a certificate and the state usually offers a free class to help understand the process of sales tax and how to file you will also get your local agents number to call if you have questions.  Hope this helps, finally got my answer will be registering with the state again.  :)

A noobie here but great question posted something similar about no one bidding against a Whale on a reasonable locker. He bid up the other noobies yesterday but they were acting stupid. Someone told a girl Oh wait might be giving myself away. :)  We bid against him and have the label of Dam noobie ran me up $150 the locker went for $175. Sure he will run us up in the future.. Oh ya still no locker.  :(

Say you endup using resale license, do you have to keep track of everything you got from that storage and how much you sold it for ... and end of the year file taxes on it??

Sale tax is different from income tax. On the sale tax question I am going to look into it I will post the answer I get.. Owned our own business and the Florida Sale tax is a nightmare if you are not straight retail.
Tax on the end user, except on cars taxed every time it is sold. I will call the office on Monday their web site does not answer the question will post what I find out.

The guy that was desperate yesterday bought a 10x10 for $360.. To high IMO but he was relaxed the rest of the day. Made a phone call to someone and said I got one, I was glad he did.
We spent 6 hours yesterday and missed the first one.

Got a question... The non winning Whale yesterday who ran bids up, started bidding on a 5x10 at $10 we jumped in. No one else several regulars from yesterday even bothered to bid. This unit was not full but had 2 cedar bedroom wardrobes ( nothing fancy but at least $100 each) in it. And other stuff. Did everyone back down because they new he would buy it??? We will have the label of running him up $150 (dam noobie). I mean one with a little bit of trash went for $10. We could not figure out with the way the day was going why no one wanted this unit. He will be our Hester... Hand on the door before Auction done

Thanks

Went to our first Auction Today.. Learned a lot. A caravan of 5 facilities  average of 2 to 3 units each.. First one had about 30 people there the units went for what I considered reasonable. $250 for a 5x5 packed to the roof.  As the day went on the crowds grew. 60 people at the next to last auction then stuff went through the roof. $600 for an abandoned 10x20. Not much in there. Did see one that was abandoned went for $1500. Had 3 inches of dust and a whole antique dinning room set, and lots a boxes in the back. other antiques as well. The last stop of the day was one abandon unit then people got desperate $250 for a 5x5 full of trash. Out again on Friday did hear the Whale of today will not be there. : ).

Has anyone said that bad weather doesn't stop people from coming to auctions !  ::)
I don't think so. I said it kept me away.  :)

Didn't go because only two units up for auction and Our area suffered bad storms. Roads blocked flooding and such... But do plan on going on the nasty days too. New to the search so will take a month too get which ones are better than others. Can't wait to see the auctioneers... Hope we don't have some like movieman... :)
