Don't get me wrong I watch Glendons videos, I think he's a good speaker, has some interesting storeis and even some good tips however for the most part it's all common sense type stuff and he seems to have more stories about people, interesting units, and experiences more so than actually offering advice. He does give some great tips on using craigslist, etc, etc, etc.

Rules, this Zoso guy just backhanded you with his auction list. Are you going to take that? I mean literally, are you going to take his auction list and add it to yours?

No TC I wanna pay you for information I can find for free in 2 minutes. Can you please make 5 more posts on this thread and pester and try to talk me into buying your list I'm just not ready to pull the trigger.

In my area the crowds are such that there's more than enough time to look stuff up if your one of the first ones to look at the unit. I normally walk away and can get a cigarette in before they start the auction so wont be doing a ton of research but more than enough time to do a quick google search or even an ebay search and just take a quick peek at autions ending soonest to see if things are actually selling and if so for how much.

I agree though for the most part storage auctions arent as practical for doing this. Often times can't get a close enough look to see model numbers and stuff and though its great to find that one gold mine item at least for me its a whole unit thing more than one item.

For police auctions and other types of auctions its great as there's normally a few hours of veiwing time prior to the auction and the auctions move slowly.

I picked up an evo recently love it. Big screen so makes using internet easy but best of all quick. Also has the voice recognition so can talk your searches instead of typing.

Yeah I got a single strap columbia I've had forever, goes to jamaica, the beach, work, etc. Things been patched up, sewed and super glued so many times.

This bag is kinda nice just for auctions. The water bottle holder is perfect for a maglite and keeps it easy to get to. Got lots of clips and straps on the outside for locks. Also easy to toss in to the car when your hopping in and out going from auction to auction.

Not sure if you guys run into this problem but always have my pockets full with crap and have stuff flying all over the car when I'm going from auction to auction all day long. I picked up one of these bags a while back and love it.

Smaller than a backpack. I also like that it can hang on your hip instead of back so can keep money in there and know it won't get snatched. I keep gloves, hat, flashlight, mp3 player, several locks and keys, smokes, waterbottle, phone and maybe a magazine for when sitting around waiting for auctions.

It's actually meant to be a conceal carry bag and has a concealed pocket with velcro for a velcro holster to keep all that cash safe as well if your in a CCW state.  Also you feel like less of a woman carring a gun bag than a man purse lol.

Anyhow, I really like it, it keeps me organized, is conveneint and keeps me from losing things.

I don't sell these bags nor do I make any kickback from them so nothing to gain, just giving some helpful advice. I used to be an aamazon affiliate so made a whole 3% but they cancelled the program in my state so make nothing. The bags are cheap too  you can pick one up for about $23 on ebay free shipping too. Its a knock off of the maxpedition bag but same quality. You can also buy all types of extra clips and things that can attach to the bag.

I did a review on my site as well as ebay if your interested in taking a look

Prices were pretty high on ebay so bought a bunch, even a bunch of the same series's. Took some to disc replay for a quick easy profit and the rest will be going to the flea market and listing on ebay this week.

Another example was police auctions, there you acutally have a few hours to inspect things if you show up early.

I can see it being useful for storage auctions but most of the time my best stuff isnt' visible and if it is hard to tell model number and things like that but can see it being very useful for both storage and other auctions and resale purposes.

Just curious how many of you guys out there have smart phones?

Do you use it at the auctions to look up prices of items?

Has it made you lots of money or saved you from losing by looking up a price?

Just curious I finally broke down and bought one after having an ancient flip phone for years. Not just for auctions for other things as well but figured it would come in handy.

I havn't used it much at storage auctions but have used it for other auctions and just general resale purposes.

What made me buy it was I was at a Blockbuster out of business sale the other day and they had tv series on dvd for 99 cents. Sex & The City, Rescue Me, Weeds, etc, etc, etc.
My gf had her iphone with her so I was looking up prices on it.

Thanks for addressing this movieman, I was curious about this. I imagine it varies area of the country. In chicago area our prices have still not gone anywhere near back to normal so I would imagine unit owners normally get some money kicked back to them.

I've noticed on the boards some people saying things are back to normal or as close to it as we can hope for so was curious whether auctions woudl bring back more than fees owed. Also I wasn't sure how much they tack on in late fees and things.

I had a guy basically explain to me what movieman did a long time ago about how the money gets handled owner gets back anything beyond rent and fees. We were joking we should buy a unit stuff it full of display electronics and boxes and default on it.
Obviously I wouldn't do this and its stupid as damaged credit will cost way mor ethan the little bit you could make but were just joking about doing that.

I don't really have a problem with this. On here we talk about how we've adapted to the crowds, this guy is trying a method to get an edge on the competition.

Personally I don't think he'll get many replies as there's really no craigslist category suited to this so unless someone who's losing their locker this week just happens to see this guys spam ad in the community section or something I just don't see him getting alot of replies.

Also, like movieman said the logisitcs wouldnt' work out in my opinion. Storage manager isnt likely going to let you guys in to check it out as the owners may steal some items out of the locker, I've seen it happen on youtube vids lol.

So your basically taking these peoples word for it on what they have in the unit. Who knows this guy may wind up paying more than he could have bought the unit at auction for depending on how high fees are.

Anyone have any insight into % wise whether auctions generally reap more than fees owed?

The other thing, assuming you pay the unit still belongs to tht person. If you guys get in the unit and they decide they aren't going to follow through. You probably have a contract but police dont enforce contracts so you'll call police they will show up, the guy has the unit in his name police will tell you to leave nad you can take them to small claims court. Wasted days in courrt and a filing fee probably not even worth going through with it. Plus say you do win a judgement, good luck collecting from somene who cnat pay their storage fees.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: What is the hardest item to sell ?
« on: April 26, 2011, 07:11:20 PM »
dirty old thongs, can never seem to get rid of those.

I have a hard time with shoes as well. I had a brand new pair of puma speedcat suede womens shoes still had stickers on the bottom. Tried several price points on ebay and craigslist, finally wound up selling for like $9 plus shipping reasonable shipping so didnt make anything off it.

eBay / Re: Do you leave feedback immediately upon recieving payment?
« on: April 26, 2011, 07:07:34 PM »
1tobuyandsell, that guy sounds like an idiot. Ebay wronged him...lol...how is not leaving feedback going to right that wrong? lol.

He's screwing you out of feedback and screwing other buyers out of a helpful suggestion of a good transaction, ebay could probably care less whether he leaves feedback or not.

As for the late or non paying buyers. I'm never mean or rude but even after politely asking for money after a week to ten days I'll send another invoice give antoher couple days and then file a claim. More often thannot buyer pays but then leaves me neg feedback not because they are not happy with the purchase, thigns were as described and package was shipped within minutes of leaving feedback but they get mad you filed a cliam so are automatically going to leave neg feedback.

eBay / Re: Anyone have success selling clothes on ebay?
« on: April 26, 2011, 07:03:13 PM »
catalyst, care to elaborate and share some pricing? I know totally different depending on item, whether craigslist, ebay, flea market but I just made a post in the flea market section asking for posting help, would like to  hear what you have to say if you dont mind.

I'm all over the place, sometimes I try to get every last penny and sit on stuff forever othertimes I feel like I give stuff away. I recently sold a D&G jacket for like $6 plus shipping but had it up on ebay and craigslit and to a resale shop and didn't have any luck so figure even though I gave it away if I cant get more for it $6 is better than nothing.
