whos gonna start the tc vs mr boxing ring thread...lol.

I'm guilty of spouting some spam from time to time myself so I dont have much room to talk but comming from a self proclaimed spammer this is the oldest trick in the book tc.

Ask a question about something not really caring about the answers but b/c it gives you the opportunity to spout on about your site and have it in the context of a question and not just straight up spam...lol.

I dont necessarily think there's anything wrong with plugging your site but try to make it as least spammy as possible.

I used to occasionally list some free auctions and link to my site. Sure its spam but at least I'm supplying some FREE info and upcomming auction info to some of the newcommers.

Tc maybe alittle spammy though it doesnt bother me but a back and forth trying to convince someone to sign up in a thread is kinda wierd.

Flea Markets / How do you price clothing at flea markets?
« on: April 25, 2011, 10:30:02 PM »
Looking for some help in how to price clothing at flea markets.

What woud you charge for tshirts?

Nice but no name brand pants, shorts, etc?

Not high end name brand but womens clothes like bebe, express, forever 21, etc? Tops and or pants or skirts?

I know all this depends on the item and stuff but just want to get a general idea. Or do you not price and just kind of go on a case by case basis and throw out a number and see how people react and go from there?

Also do you normally price your items with tags or no?

Good point Mr. A. I kind of limit myself to a small number of auctioneers and local auctions so I'm on good terms with all these guys but like you said it pays off.

I pretty much always get to use their facilities trucks for free. They often will give me some tips on other good facilities. And the biggest thing the 24 hours. At one facility I usually bring the manager lunch and he normally gives me a week to clear out my unit, some guys let me store my stuff for free for a few days or even a week or two if I'm busy. It definately pays to get to know managers and auctioneers.

Movieman had a really informative post about this topic. Actually I think it was someone elses post and I kinda hijacked the thread with my own question but he had some good info and experience with titling a dirt bike, four wheeler and maybe a car if I remeber correctly.

Couldn't find it looking but then again I'm lazy and didnt look that hard lol. Maybe movieman can link to to it.

Don't condone doing anything illegal but most non chain convenient stores and or liquor stores would buy them off of you as a discount.

I have never used one, maybe would have signed up for a week when I first started but when I first started there weren't a million sites selling lists.

Personally the auctions I go to are normally all from the same one or two auctioneers with the exception of a few independent places I know are low crowd places I attend.

Lists may be good to get started but like others have said, once you've been to one or two you start getting on lists, know what auctioneers websites to checks, etc.

Also, there's more than enough auctions in my city and surrounding cities, more than I can attend so I really have no need or desire to find more or expand as I already have more than enough within say a 30 mile radius.

Sites like this are a great place to market a list however at the same time any newbie who takes any time to read the boards knows how to check the local classifieds, craigslist, auctioneers sites, etc. and probably could get started without one.

Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Re: Auction Hunters is FAKE!!!

I admittedly don't watch the show religiously if its on I'll watch it, wont tape it or go out of my way to see it.

Anyhow, as for Barry and bust units he normally makes it a bust homself from hwat I see.

I remember one episode where Jarred was complaining that Barry bought a unit nad just trashed and threw out everything in it because there was no antiques.

Barry seems like a collector so if there's not some cool antique he just doesn't care to even bother trying to unload the rest of the stuff in the unit.&

Look at the Suge night episode, he buys a box and when its full of clothes he's trying to sell items for like $10 in the parking lot.

Mr. A, did you actually give the manager permission to give up your home address?

I imagine even someone having your phone number coudl potentially turn into a hassle but you can always block a number however home address, woudln't want anyone who's stuff I had knowing where I live.

I'd probably give an email address they could contact me at. I'm prety fed up with even trying to give stuff back, nobody wants anything back as far as sentimental things, they all want things of value if they want anything at all. At this point I'm just throwing stuff away if the facility wont take it.

The Lounge / Re: Gave up on my quest for junk silver
« on: April 21, 2011, 04:40:21 PM »
It takes a little while reguardless of how you do it but found a relateively quick way to do it. Rather than looking at the face of every coin you can basically just split the role open and hold the roll in your palm still in the form of the roll.

Look at the edges of the coin, if you see copper color throw it back if you see silver it's either a pre 65 coin or its a brand new coins that hasn't ahd the coating rubbed off.

This is a lot quicker though as you can sort through a $10 roll in a whole 5 second instead of sitting there examining each coin.

At my job I work with money so always take a look at coins but but going to stop buying a few grand worth of rolls. You can't bring them back to the same bank or they will get fed up with you real quick buying all their half dollars busting them open and then returning 99% of them so you wind up having to run around to severl banks to cash them back. Justnot worth the hassle

eBay / Re: Do you leave feedback immediately upon recieving payment?
« on: April 21, 2011, 04:34:51 PM »
Yeah it sucks sellers cant leave feedback anymore. Now buyers can wait as long as they want to pay and you can't do anything about it. Send repeat invoices or even dare open a non payment claim after they havn't paid for 10 days and your going to get bad feedback.

I'm surprised how few people leave feedbac, I must have two dozen things open on my dashboard where I never left feedback waiting for buyers and they still havn't.

I have found since I started not leaving feedback unitl buyers I get quite a bit more feedback but still surprised how few people leave feedback.

I expect some staging and fakeness howewver auction hunters seems even more fake than storage wars, the characters also seem fake as well.

I dont know why they never show crappy units, personally I think it would make it more reastic and exciting wondering whether they will hit the jackpot or lose a few hundred bucks.

I'm sure there have been one or two but I don't believe I've ever seen a bust unit on storage wars. I know a few have looked to be a bust and then they pull out an 1800 dollar vase at the last second but can't recall a total bust unit.

Mr. A. You got photobucket or something? I don't have facebook and dnt plan on signing up for it but I notice a lot of the thing syou post I wanna look at but cant without logging in.

Obviously pictures and sentimental items are things nobody would have any problem giving back as they have no value for us but have sentimental value to others. You'll be surprised by how hard it is to track people down and that most people aren't all that interested in getting pictures, baby blankets, and things like that back.

As for valaubles that may be sentimental that's another story. Maybe if it was soemthing that really tugged at the heart stings but this is a business and the same way Jewel Grocery Store cant give away food just because there are hungry people we can't go giving everything back or we wouldn't make any money for all the time, effort and risk.

Here is an ad in Chicagoland area

In my area they normally don't list items and personally I'm less interested n going to the auction if they do list items. If its good stuff will bring out more people and just seems more likely that things may be picked through.

IN my area they list date, time, etc plus normally the peoples names and unit numbers. i find it a good sign if multiple units are owned by one person.

Having trouble with my phone now but will post a sample ad like i mentioned
