I attended my first auction yesterday. I called in the morning to check if the auction was still on for the day and it was. I believe initially there were 7 units up for bid but by auction time it was down to 4 units with roughly 25 buyers.
The first unit was a 10 x 10. It had some trash bags, boxes, an AC wall unit, an old TV and some stuffed animals. I think it sold for around 400-430.
The second and third units were units that were about the size of a closet.
The second unit had 4 storage bins that held paperwork and family pictures. It also has the hood and grill of a Nissan (Altima) with various car parts…2 stock Nissan springs. The bid started at 20 and ended at 230.
The third unit had a loveseat the was in what appeared to be very good condition, a large mirror, 2 or 3 empty baskets, a small stereo box and 3 to 5 boxes. The bid started and ended around 350.
The last unit was a 10 x 10. I noticed 2 old suitcases, a small desk, an AC wall unit and 10 to 15 boxes and storage bins. This being the last up for auction the bid opened at 100 and moved quickly to 400. When it was all said and done the unit sold for 690. I thought that was a little high but the winner must have saw something he wanted or didn’t want to go home empty handed.
It was good to get the experience of seeing what happens, seeing other buyers, the bidding process and what units go for. I look forward to the next auction and possibly bidding on a unit or two.
Aloha,
