South West / McAllen Tx Area
« on: November 28, 2011, 11:46:43 AM »
My SIL lives in McAllen and was inquiring about the storage auctions in that area. I know that in Houston you can go to dailycourtnews.com and get a list. She already does flea markets on the weekends, so I thought the auctions would be a great bet for her. If anyone has any information about Auctions around that area please let me know:)

I am a nooby too. I don't get intimidated by anyone. I won't pay retail price, and I can run up the bid just like a whale can lol. I definately learned those auctions held in smaller towns might be out of my price range though. I found a auction last week with 30 units but didn't get a chance to go. Monday there is one much closer to home in a big city with 30 units. Happy hunting:-)

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Storage Auction TV Show...

I think it makes perfect sense. I also think the T.V. shows are bringing more people to the auctions. In that case the lockers are sold way to expensive to make any real money. It definately has downfalls!!!

Those guys on Storage wars get paid to do the show lol. Probably 100k per episode each. I would definately be down for that ;)

I would like to make a little income also. I know it sure is fun, till all the moving starts:( I hope you quadruple your money. Happy Hunting!!!

I can't go Friday, but with 30 units I have to send my guy. Just hoping there isn't like 500 people there lol. I decided not to go tomorrow. I'm focusing on Friday. Where do you live? Here in Houston there are several auctions going on everyday. I'm new, but not afraid to post. I just set my limit. I do notice that alot of people at these auctions will never throw a bid out. Think many just go to check things out?? IDK, I go to buy:)

It was horrible. Only one out of the 4 were worth bidding on. It was a full house of pretty ok stuff. I was willing to go to $500 or so. It went for $1250. I'll be going tomorrow to one that has 12 units. There is one Friday that has 30 units. Think I might have to send hubby to that one. I kinda just enjoy it. I love to get a good deal, but its ok to keep my money too;)

I just got back from a Auction in Tomball Tx. I thought there wouldn't be anyone there. It was out there and there were 4 units. By the time the auction started there were around 60 people. The crowd seemed to grow as the last couple units were shown. Units went for way to much.

I might have asked this in another topic. What if you find a motorcycle or vehicle of some kind. Can the origional owner get you for theft? I mean they hold the origional title right? How do you make it yours? I live in Houston. Not sure if the laws are different in other places.

What about guns. Can you just sell them without getting them registered? How does that work?

That puts my mind to ease. I bought a locker that was blocked view from a matress. I won it for $250, and really thought there was something good back there lol. I made $200 back and donated the clothes to Goodwill. I thought afterwards that they might had done that to run the bids up knowing there was nothing in there to bid over $100 for lol. Oh well, at least I got most of my money back:)
