Went to 2 auctions this past week. One had 9 units and 10-15 bidders there. Nice crowd and majority were regulars. Was able to get 2 units, almost a 3rd. The one I missed out on had some electronics/appliances boxes and the 2 in the front had their item inside the box. Also some ok furniture inside it. It was a 5x10. Went for $190. I was out at $175.

The first unit I won was an inside unit packed full with just furniture. It was a 5x10 also. Some of the furniture was bigger and I figured people wouldn't want to deal with carrying it outside to load. I got it for $40. Have already sold a bedroom set for $165 and have about another $200 in furniture pieces remaining.

The very next unit I was able to win also. It was an outside 5x10 3/4 full with a bunch of furniture, a few boxes and some appliances showing. Bidding started at 10 and went back and forth between 2 guys to $50 then I jumped it to $75 and the bidding ended there. At a yardsale this past weekend we were able to sell smaller stuff from that unit for $20 and also sold chairs from inside for $70. So, less than a week after and both units are beyond breaking even with a bunch of stuff still to sell.

The other auction I went to only had 2 units and about 10 bidders. Both units were decent and I liked them but we didnt have much space available after winning 2 units earlier in the week. Both went in the 200-300 range and each person should make a profit. Overall the scene is settling down here and that is good for everyone.

Recently bought a unit with a ton of sports memoriabilia in it. Rare cards, autographs, jersies were all found as a part of the collection. Is anybody on here interested or a collector of sports memoriabilia. Prices on the items are definitely reasonable. We would be looking for someone to help us in regards to what it is worth and if you can help us gain some knowledge we are willing to sell the pieces to you at a very fair price.

Any advice/recommendations/interest in this collection?

that is very odd Bulldog. How or why would someone even think of doing that? Anyways pretty slow week as far as auctions go here in PA. Got a decent one on Friday, but looks like another week of weekend yardsales. Next week is very busy with auctions on each day and most days having several, so should be able to grab some units then to actually post some interesting stuff. Picked up a few pieces of furniture that should move fairly easy at a yardsale this weekend. Spent $30 total for a desk, 3 matching end tables, and a matching coffee table/end table set. Should be able to get around $150 for those items.

Are the auctions this past week and this current week slow for other parts of the country also?

It was $30 to be authenticated and yes they sent us COA in return. Without the authentication the item isn't worth much, but its value increases with that little slip of paper!

Busy weekend ahead. Tomorrow morning we have a yardsale and there is also a 28 unit - 3 location auction tomorrow morning in a nearby town(20 minutes). It would be a shame to miss the auctions, but we attended auctions at this site before and never had any luck and weren't impressed with the quality/prices. We hope to get rid of a lot of items at the yardsale so it would be nice to reload inventory at the same time as we are getting rid of it. Maybe we find a way to do both.

What would you guys recommend?

There aren't many auctions the next 2 weeks, so it would be good to stock some inventory for that time period.

Went to an auction this past Thursday. About 20-25 people in attendance which is low for this area (South-Central PA). 9 Units were up for grabs. Our storage space is currently pretty full so we were looking very specifically for a small furniture unit.

First unit had a pleather sectional and a stereo surround system. We have had luck with sales and quick turnaround on sofas so far so I was interested. Unit ended up selling for $300 which was above the $250 limit I had set.

The next 4-5 units all went for less than $100 and didn't have very high quality. I snagged one of them containing 4 pieces of furniture and not too much else. A black accent table, glass display case, entertainment center and a mini bar were the items of furniture. It was perfect for what we were looking for and very cheap. We figure to be able to get $40-80 for each piece of furniture.

The remaining units all had some furniture and other odds and ends and went between $100-200 (all reasonable prices). I liked the location and the crowd a lot. There was definitely room for profit in all the units today. We plan to return to this site each month and hopefully have additional space in the future.

btw. I jumped back between using I and we in this post. We is because it is 3 of us working together and I because I was the only one in attendance at the auction today. I'm glad to be posting and hope to remain active on this board going forward.
