Storage stories from Dallas area.
Went out yesterday for the first time in awhile.  Avoided the caravan public storage auction and hit up a small auction near my house.  Four units up for auction.  Only 5 bidders and the units were just ok.  I bought one for $25 that had a new Brute trash can on wheels filled with newer janitorial supplies. I also saw a bunch of men's XXL clothing on hangers.  It was a good buy.  The janitorial stuff stuff I sold that day for $60 for the whole bunch. 
I found three sets of XXL Chef's whites from a local culinary school and the clothes were all in good shape.  All and all not to bad but no mystery.

I bought an online unit for $100 that was full of legos still with books and boxes.  A wedding dressed preserved in the dry cleaning box.  Some roller blades.  Not really a great buy but I knew the Legos would get me my money back and it all depends on the dress on margin of profit.  Also found a nice ice chest with a couple of air mattresses in them.

I am really concentrating on selling my left of over stock from last couple of months.  Weather has actually been decent and had a couple of good flea market days.

I have a question have you thought about doing an auction service to the facilities?  Have an agent come and check out the storage units, take pics, and post them to the site for a fee.  Having a consistent product will go a long way.

You had mentioned that auctioneers might be interested.  Take it one step further and have your own agent go to each facility and do the actual work.

Facilities are already use to paying a percentage.

You don't get hit with fees if you cancel an item.  But you are right about the chargeback.

As Movie Man said I think I am becoming a picking convert.  I have been hitting a lot of thrift stores near where I work (there are four huge ones) and my specialty is Ebay and Amazon apps.  I scan stuff that is new and see if I can sell on Amazon marketplace or Ebay.  So far I have a hockey figurine I recently picked up at Goodwill for $2.

And after another post I think I am going to pick some washer and dryers this weekend.

 I am just curious what you guys think your specialties are when it comes to picking.

I found some nice upholstery fabric in a locker and have tried a couple of upholstery shops and no luck.  Do you guys know where else I might unload it. 

I usually dictate times for my meets but on big item hard to sell stuff I will make time to fit with customer's schedule.

Just thinking about how important my smart phone is to buying and especially selling.  I use quick scan and the ebay mobile app to scan bar-codes that give me immediate access to prices.
Not to mention these days I take a couple of pics and post on Facebook exchanges as I process them on site.  I have even sold some before I even get back to my storage or store.

I get 1% on all purchases as well.
