:o  So I go to an auction in Memphis, Tn and they have a starting bid price. Well the first unit opens at $400, no one bids. The auctioneer looks at the owner who nods at the auctioneer t accept any offer. Okay, now we all know not to bid if the opening price is high. The locker I end up buying was opened at $50, no one bids. Inside is a pile that looks like a pile of about three blankets with a gym type bag on top with zip lock bags inside with what looks like towels inside of them. On top is a possibly a portable DVD player. There are no bids, so I offer $20 and get it. Now the wierd part. The item on top is a Acer netbook. Yes the gym bag is full of nothing but zip bags with towels and ladies underwear. Some marked "Used during sex" Needless to say I did not open these. It took all I had just to feel the bags to see if they contained anything else, none did. They all got tossed. I did find a Kodak digital camera 6meg, seems to work fine, but no charger. Also found an envelpoe that read "husbands hair sample", tossed that as well. Now I lifted one blanket and tossed it aside, another and another. Under them were two inflatable air mattresses. picked up one and tossed it in the junk pile and there sitting on the last air mattress are 3 laptop laptop computers, one Sony, one Toshiba, one Mac and one more netbook. I'm going to a computer shop tomorrow to see if they work because none of them had power cords and the batteries were all dead. I'll let you know if any of them work. Happy hunting

I was hearing that around at our auctions. Opening bids at $500... I said did they sell the unit? no.. If I come across one like that not sure I would stick around.

Great find !!!!! From the sound of the other contents I would have the computer place wipe those babies clean... No telling what is on them..

Sounds like you found the porn room. Blankets and blow up mattresses...

I'd have to agree w/ money4nothing that it sounds like you found a portable porn room.....

Depending on how old the computers are they should be worth some money.  As long as they are running XP you should be fine.  Even if none of it works you should be able to sell the laptops to someone for $5 each.  I'm sure a scrapper or computer nerd would pick them up and you don't loose any money.

Could always install UBUNTU on them that is what I use on my Toshiba.

Ubuntu Linux based free ware. Comes with Open Office.. Spread sheets, Presentations, and Word processor for free.  Just a thought. No Microsoft here...  :)

Most people will not buy a laptop with Linux installed on it though. I prefer Linux, as I cant stand microsoft. For the majority however they are going to want at least XP on them.

As far as selling them off for $5, even at scrap they are worth more than that.

Ya but if it already has windows on it, I can get more money for it. If password protected in BIOS, take out MOBO battery. If OS password protected, break out my backtrack :)

I could of used those for my wife's computer forensic class she just did.  Checked out one of the computers I had found in a unit but nothing of interest.  Not even on the deleted stuff.
