Baby born in London
« on: July 23, 2013, 09:52:35 AM »
My guess is most Americans could care less about the new future king of Britain being born yesterday.

Sure, some women here are going ga-ga....that must be a woman thing, but by in large it's not of that much interest to most Americans (IMO) despite TV news coverage. Even the network's stories have a bit of "...you're kidding right?" aspect about them.

Anyway, I thought this cover of a British tabloid was somewhat telling.

That's an amusing cover. I don't get the hype over the birth. I understand it's an heir to the throne. However, how relevant is the throne? It's not since they became a democracy. Now the Cambridge family (the real last name of the royal family) is just England's most rich and famous family. The things that keeps the throne alive is history and tradition. Tradition will be broken eventually, and history.. well, it's good for books..

I hope the baby (Prince George of Cambridge) doesn't get William's hairline...or Charles' ears for that matter.

Naw, he'll probably get his father's hairline.

Just what we need in this world - another king!

I don't know what's worse, electing a figurehead every 4 years or allowing someone to be a figurehead for the rest of their life.

Oh do tell!

Yes, please do. I haven't heard any good Obama rants lately.
