Motorcycle in Pa Storage Auction

Motorcycle in Pa Storage Auction

I'm kinda new to the storage auction world and I've been going to a few here and there. The other day I went to a storage auction here in Pennsylvania. One of the units, when they opened it, had two motorcycles in it. the auctioneer said "I have good news and I have bad news. This locker is full of good stuff however due to Pennsylvania state law we can not include the two motorcycles with the unit". I looked around online and couldn't find anything in the Pa. codes about this. Is this a real law or was something wrong with this auction?

I guess my first question to you is why didn't you ask the auctioneer to cite the title of the law he was referencing. If he couldn't then you challenge it's existence. In December of 2014 Pennsylvania revised some of their lien laws which gave power of the facility to tow away vehicles abandoned more than 60 days. But that applies to vehicles stored outside on-site and not vehicle stored within units.

What he probably meant to say was that the motorcycles couldn't be sold, at that time. There are certain procedures that the facility must follow before they can legally sell a vehicle like notifying the registered owner(s) / lien-holders by certified letters, signing an affidavit and having it notarized, obtaining DMV records from the state, etc. Auctioneers usually reserve the right to remove items like this from a sale.

Oh ok. I figured there was some legal hoops to jump through but it just seemed really weird the way they worded it especially when you hear so much about these storage lockers with motorcycles and all in them. I was seeing dollar signs when that door went up on the unit. When they first started the auctions the auctioneer went through the usual rules and whatnot so they really should have said something about vehicles if they weren't prepared to include them in the units I would think. Oh well, thanks for the info though. I'm still at the learning stage of all this so any info I can get is a big help.
