So here's a strange one.  I've got setting in front of me a Fuel compartment rebuild kit for an MK46 torpedo.  (the big missile thing they fire out the side of submarines...)  My first instinct is to pitch it in the trash.  Likely hood of ever finding a buyer I'm guessing is near zero.  How do you all deal with strange military surplus stuff?

I've also got a bunch of aircraft stuff, more than half of which I can't identify.   Some of it is sealed in dessicant packs with military type numbers stencil painted on the packages.

I research it as best I can and then put it on eBay. In my opinion only eBay will bring the best results
for something like this as collectors will look there if not first, then second. They may know places they would look first, but you don't want to sell to THOSE GUYS because then THEY will make the money.

You never know, there might be a collector or someone who is rebuilding torpedoes / aircraft that really needs those parts. If any of it is rare, it might be valuable.

I find that most unusual military items sell well, and for a good price at the flea market locally.

If was the torpedo body itself I'd already have it either at the flea market or on ebay.  Thats something odd and someone would recognize and buy.  The fuel compartment rebuild kit is a box full of gaskets and o-rings.  not very sexy...  I do great on ebay with new in package car parts, but I just don't see it on this.  I'll probably list it anyway just to see.

Normally I list items that I don't "know" the value auction style and let the market determine it for me.  If I know what something will sell for I list it buy it now and just wait for the right person.  Problem with something like this is there won't be enough competition to let the market decide and I have no idea what to ask for it.
