Value put aside, does anyone know what this thing is? My first thought was a champagne cart, then maybe a cart to hold a catering tray, I just cant find anything close to it. The company seems to be gone, but I listed what is marked on it below. Nope, thats not a typo, thats how its on there.

Wilson Mfg co
Columbus, Georgia
A Shampaine industry

It looks like a cart that a hospital would use in their nursery for newborns. All it's missing is the plastic bed that rests on top.

Did this come out of the unit with the infant coffin too?

no, it was in another unit on another day. The rest of the unit was mostly household furniture and nic nacs so no real clues there.

Wow...did you see those prices? Major score. I would try to sell it to a midwife or someone who assists with home births.

The used medical śupply store sells them for between $50-$300.
Ones similar to the one show is listed at $150.
eBay has one at $200, another closer to this style for $99.

Apparently medical equipment doesnt holder its value.

Apparently medical equipment doesnt holder its value.

It's because it's replaced with newer equipment every few years...part of the reason healthcare costs are out of control. I could understand buying the latest and greatest MRI machine but some of the stuff is ridiculously overpriced.

For example, why do they need to pay $1000 for a cabinet like this

4mdmedical.com/medical-carts-e-series-24-cabinet-6-drawers.html?utm_medium=cse&utm_source=google&gclid=CK6Rvc-uxLcCFWrl7AodhzQAMA#.UaqzG5xv_80

When they could buy something like this for $200.

Wilson Mfg co
Columbus, Georgia
A Shampaine industry

Affiliated Hospital Products, Inc., purchases Shampaine Industries. (1967).
https://www.sos.mo.gov/BusinessEntity/soskb/Agent.asp?4010391

That confused me since that cart doesn't have he look of pre-1967.
But I found a lawsuit from 1985 listing Shampiane Inc, an AHP, inc affiliate; so they were acquired but remained an affiliate useing thier own name.

However, I can only find the Shampaine name on surgical equipment (beds, tables....) since the mid-80's

My assumption is at some point after the acquisition AFP only had Shampiane produce thier surgical line.

Really hard to research since all these companies kept buying out other companies.  Some merged, some ran as affiliate's, some broke into parts.
On top of it, they kept moving headquarters and manufacturing locations.

Best educated guess, but still a total guess, is the cart is from the 60's or early 70's....?
