Well, if any of you Californians happen to see him at an auction, invite him to the forum to give his side of the story. Same for Brandy & Jarrod.

The new season starts on April 12, 2017 at 8:00 EST, 9:00 central on A&E

Well, that's cool. Several years back we were all guessing how long we thought the shows would last. Never would have imagined we'd still be seeing new episodes in 2017.

Been my favorite read for the last couple of years even if I seldom post.  Too much to learn, too little to offer.  Hello out there!!!

I think everyone has something to offer, so don't be a stranger.  ;)

A few years back I was selling a car on Craigs List. Nothing was happening for about a month, then suddenly I was getting calls on it. Turns out people were getting their tax refunds. Sold the car pretty quick once refunds were sent out.

I've sold a few cars around tax season, and your're right, they do sell well. Especially cars under 5K. I've had good luck getting rid of patio furniture this month, but it was spring break, relatively good weather and the items were priced to sell quickly.

Ironically, the other beds ended up selling the day after I posted this. Made a $60 profit. I asked the guy who bought the beds what he was planning on doing with them (there were 4 identical king size headboards) and he replied "I don't know, something just told me to come buy them." :o

General Storage Auction Talk / When do YOU cut your losses?

I used to believe that everything would eventually sell, given enough time, if it's priced correctly. I  came across a great deal about 4 months ago. It was four identical oak king size headboards with posts and two twin size oak kids beds. Paid $20 for the lot. Finally sold the kids beds for $30. I have the headboards priced ridiculously cheap. Had several calls, but no bites yet. These things take up a pretty good amount of space in my storage shed so I really want them gone. Even considered giving them away to free up space. Anyone else had hard to sell items? If so, when do you cut your losses?

Hey Mike, how's life? Got a question for you. After being on a storage auction reality show, how has your life changed? For the better or worse? If you could go back, would you have done anything differently?

I've been out of the game for the past year or so and I cut the cable over a year ago, so I haven't been watching reality TV. Are there any new shows out? Are any of the original shows still producing new episodes? What shows are still airing re-runs?

Let us know when that happens.  :72:

It happened.  ;)  Nice to see you back as well.

Anyone sell more of certain items during income tax season? If so, let us know.

eBay / Re: Ebay Valet - Total Waste of Time
« on: February 21, 2017, 10:00:42 AM »
This experience just wont seem to end. Had to call eBay valet because several items were not returned. After investigating the missing items, eBay informs me that 3 items were damaged when they received them. Two of the items were antique 18" pewter statues valued at about $700 +/-.

The other item was an Asian urn. I was never able to determine the value of the urn, but I do recall that the tenant asked the storage facility manager to call me to see if she could get this urn back. The woman wasn't Asian, the urn was filled with candy and there was over 2 grand in silver found in the unit, yet she only asked for the urn back? Didn't make sense to me either. Who knows, maybe it's worth something.

Back to the eBay Valet fiasco. During the phone call with customer service, they informed me that eBay valet would be determining the value of the items and issuing payment via PayPal this week. This is the first thing they've done right so far. Now, being an optimistic cynic (yes, that's possible) I assume I'm going to get a payment for $58 and spend months going back and forth with them trying to get a fair value for the items. We'll just wait and see.

Just a brief announcement: Online Storage Auctions (SM) has a new partner. He has 20 years corporate experience, a history of taking companies public, and strong VC connections. He has a PHD in Physics and he's a brilliant coder. Despite all this, he couldn't be more down to Earth. Really great guy, hopefully he'll introduce himself here on the forum soon.

eBay / Ebay Valet - Total Waste of Time
« on: February 02, 2017, 11:20:56 AM »
I recently tried Ebay Valet service and was deeply disappointed. Despite the ridiculously high fees to list your items for you, I was willing to give it a shot. I sent them 2 huge moving boxes with 14 items valued between $40 and $300. You can ship your items to them for free and they provide free return shipping for items that don't sell, which is nice, so you really have nothing to lose.

At first glance, I thought this was a really good way for people who don't have a lot of free time to list their wares online. Then I read the fine print. No fragile items, only items valued over $40, used items must be in perfect condition, etc.

So, after waiting 6 months, I contacted customer service again and they told me that none of the items had sold. I told them to send the items back and I received them back about a month later. I checked my inventory and 4 of the most valuable items were missing.

Long story made short, it was a gigantic waste of time. Anyone had an experience with Ebay Valet?
