2 States Legalize Recreational Marijuana Use!
« on: November 07, 2012, 08:00:17 AM »
Wow! Colorado and Washington became the first states to legalize recreational use of marijuana.

We still have states that haven't legalized it for medical use. I'm amazed that it passed for recreational use.

The Colorado measure states adults over 21 can possess up to 1 ounce of marijuana, or six marijuana plants, for personal use. Opponents have said it will make the state a haven for drug tourists.

The measure in Washington State, Initiative 502, will legalize and regulate the production, possession and distribution of marijuana for residents age 21 and older.

Well, if you live in Colorado or Washington, you might find some interesting new items in your storage units.

How do you get a one-armed stoner out of a tree?  Wave. :P

Of course recreational use is still illegal nationwide under federal law.

Yeah, but it's pretty clear that the Feds won't interfere under normal circumstances. Just look at Mendocino County.

It's kind of exciting. And Colorado is brilliant for doing it - they needed money, they found a way to get it. Their economy problems are gone now! As a die-hard non drug user, I wish all the other states would follow suit. Seriously, pot is no worse than Alcohol. I have a feeling that pretty soon, the FDA is going to move Marijuana onto the list of allowed substances (at least for medical use), so the federal issue would become somewhat moot at that point.

Is there really a lot of things going on with misuse of priority mail boxes or was that a joke? Normally, I'd know it was a joke, but it seems like lately a lot of things that should be jokes are actually true.

I think these two states are going to see a slight population increase over the next year or so.

Honey, pack your bags...we're moving to the Rockies! 8)

All kidding aside, I don't smoke either but I'm close with someone who uses it medicinally as well as recreationally. It is a miracle drug for her and I support her 100%.

I also agree, alcohol is legal and marijuana causes fewer problems than alcohol. That reminds me of a joke.

What's the difference between a drunk and a pot head at a stop sign?

The drunk runs it and the pot head waits for it to turn green.

Along with lower test scores.

You never know, they could have "higher" test scores. :P

Wouldn't it be hypocritical to be calling the prices high?

If you smoked pot while buying storage units, you would never get anything done. 48 hours after you bought the unit, the storage facility manager would raise the door on the storage unit only to find you napping on an old dusty sofa with a bag of Cheetos on your chest. :D

That's an interesting point.

"testing proceedures after a workplace accident can't detect the difference between 1 hour since use and one week."

The Answer: Technology/Testing will have to improve and blood intoxication level limits will have to be established. Up until now, how recently you used marijuana didn't matter. The only thing they needed to know was whether you used it or not. Who knows, the technology may already exist. They probably can test your blood for THC levels and come up with a reasonable estimate.

How are they going to handle employment applications and drug testing for people who smoke marijuana? As long as they aren't high at work, should an employer be able to tell an employee what they can and cannot do when they aren't on the clock? Can an employer still deny employment under federal law and get sued under state law?

I can see the new vehicular laws now:

DWI=Driving While Intoxicated
DWT=Driving While Toking
