Whats the best way to sell when you're first starting out?
« on: December 10, 2012, 07:07:27 PM »
I see that some of you sell online or at garage sales and flea markets but what is the best way to sell when you're first starting out? Are there pros and cons to each? Thanks in advance for any advice.

That's ironic that you mentioned that. As of this morning, our (the forum moderators) new objective is to leave no post unanswered. Charli, is in the process of cleaning up all unanswered posts. She's made 40 posts over the past 12 months. I hardly consider that a new face.

Do you know if it's compatible with SMF 2.0.7?

Cool forum by the way. Now I know where to turn to when I have a question about PHP.

Cool forum by the way. Now I know where to turn to when I have a question about PHP.

I don't see why it wouldn't be, I know the majority of the PHP Helpers on the site uses that. Because people donate $$ to them sometimes when they help out and answer questions, so they are eager to answer questions.  I coded in a paypal donation button that people set up in their profile, so it displays in their forum posts.

It was a way to keep users engaged and helping one another, because they might get a donation.

Give it a try, just back up your code, make the changes and see what happens.

Isn't it funny how a recycled post can just take off. Even though this thread has like 5 different subjects.

People complain craigslisters lowball you but you don't know lowballing until you've had a garage sale. I'd first go Craigslist, then ebay just due to little effort and time required for ebay vs sitting at a flea makret all weekend.

After that I'd say flea market is next best. Sure people are looking for deals but you got a large crowd of people comming to buy junk and make impulse buys. Garage sales are a lot of work and people aren't willing to pay anything for stuff. I'd be having people give me 47 cents in pennies. I probably sold tousands for dollars worthh of stuff and made about $143 after my most recent garage sale. Granted this was stuff I was ready to dump at goodwill anyway so something better than nothing but all that work setting up, sitting around friday and saturday for such a small amount of money not really worth it and havn't had a garage sale since.

I just did a garage sale this weekend and made $107.50 ($15 of that was in change)..

I was selling with the mindset, all leftovers go to goodwill.

But the total haul was $490 combined (Me, Mom, Dad, Sis)
