Online Storage Auctions / Re: Is our service recognized as a brand?
« on: March 30, 2015, 03:54:38 PM »
from lurking around it  looks like there has been no activity on this forum since 2012.

It is probably more accurate to say there has been "little activity" in the last 2 to 3 years.

Interest in the TV Shows, in storage auctions in general, and yes, in talking about them on forums, has gone down over the last couple of years.

The number of "active" members here (active meaning someone who posts at least once in a while as opposed to just reading other's posts) is probably around 12 to 20 people.

Purchased a commercial mystery locker for $800.

It was an art.com supplier and had just about 20,000 museum quality lithographs.  They are small, medium and large.

Here's a link to someone who has other items in small, medium and large. A total of 1,000 of them I think. Maybe he would be willing to trade his for yours.

It will probably take around 10 years to sell them all but this is the retirement locker.

Congrats, but the realist in me has to ask:

At 20,000 pieces and 10 years (120 months) to sell them, can you realistically expect to sell 160 plus pieces each month (month in and month out) to pull in those big bucks?

eBay / Re: Irrational eBay Buyers
« on: February 20, 2015, 09:38:36 AM »
I forgot that I offered free shipping, so he can't leave negative feedback for that.

I don't know which is funnier, that:

1) the buyer paid $265 for $282 worth of store gift card credit

or

2) Your feedback for the last 12 months shows a perfect 5 stars
for shipping and the other feedback items show nothing. That reflects that eBay gives automatic 5 stars for free shipping !

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Is the storage auction craze over?
« on: January 06, 2015, 06:46:44 PM »
I think it peaked some time ago and is over.

Prices will probably never get back to what they were (low) because the regulars who have always bought are fighting for the few good lockers that are left (at least in my area).

The tv shows not only generated more buyers (for the last few years) but they showed tenants that "yes" their lockers would be sold. That resulted in people either paying their rent or getting their stuff out.

It's not like it used to be and probably never will be again. Time to move on to something more profitable.

The Lounge / Re: Online Safety Deposit Box Auctions.

Travis,

Jump on it.. the domain safetydepositboxauctions.com is available.

helenair.com/news/local/state-auctioning-unclaimed-safe-deposit-box-items/article_3a69770c-ed42-11e3-9153-0019bb2963f4.html

You can dominate this space, every bank will post unclaimed safety deposit boxes on your site, this is way bigger then Storage...

Now THAT'S funny !

Main first impression for buyers and sellers is number of auctions. Hundreds vs 6. Thats why eBay survives even with price gouging, because they are the biggest and no other auction service has as many auctions or as much traffic.

That is certainly true.

Has anyone ever found a Rolex or another high end watch?

I know its off topic :) but I found a "wannabe" Rolex once. Sold it at a reasonable (yes, we both know its fake) price.

Legal Issues / Re: Online Storage Auctions Now Legal in Missouri
« on: August 20, 2014, 09:24:49 AM »
I believe you will allow anyone to hold a lien sale at onlinestorageauction.com regardless of state or law. Is this statement incorrect?

Since we know you won't do anything illegal, so by that definition in your mind it is legal :)

The two that are on there now are private party sales, so probably no legality issues there.

I'm thinking about the live ones because you can actually see a little more detail than a few pictures...

Duh !

Too bad the $ sign you put in your post description isn't the real value indicator for the money.

What's the foreign currency actually worth in American dollars?

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Strange rules at storage auctions
« on: August 10, 2014, 02:13:42 PM »
Also at another auction they sold a unit but you couldn't take the contents until the following week as the tenant had asked for an extra week to pay. So if they pay you don't get the unit.(they also didnt take money for that unit until pickup so not too bad).

It's called a "contingency" sale and is common in some states.

eBay / Re: Picture of Forum Comment Sells for 90K on Ebay!

The seller user ID is xhacker02..

And anonymous is a name that an elite group of hackers go by.

"Anonymous" or "Anon" was used by unnamed authors of written works since before the printing press was invented.
