General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Glendon's One Time $150; Grow in 2013
« on: January 22, 2013, 03:46:07 PM »
You know, that's the wonderful thing about this forum. We can start a new topic and couple of people will share their point of view, then a couple of others will start arguing, then a couple of others will start cracking jokes...and yet, it's all relevant and fine in the end somehow.  ;D

Given that sentiment, why not extend an invitation to Glendon to come share his perspective on the recent threads regarding his endeavors ?

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Selling Store Cards on eBay
« on: January 22, 2013, 09:35:22 AM »
Here's a screen print of the last three feedback received on eBay by a seller of store cards.

The names of the seller, the three buyers and the item numbers have been blacked out to protect the "innocent".

The seller has not had any sales since those September feedbacks but eBay did not suspend him.

You may have to scroll to the right to see the transaction dates in Sept.

The seller is a member of this forum but has not been active here for some time. Jail time ?

I started watching Glendon's videos in 2010 before I went to my first aution, by the time I won my first unit, I had watched all the videos he had made at that time and took copious amounts of notes. I also bought several of his books and read and re-read and also took notes.

I was quite surprised to read the statement I quoted above. My patience with the approach and delivery used by Glendon in the very first video was enough to turn me (and him) off in just a couple of minutes into the one video I sampled. Even if I had not had substanial experience before sampling the video I wouldn't have had the ability to pursue one (let alone all) of them through to completion.

But, if it helped you out, that's great. I admire your perserverance in watching them all.

As I posted two years ago or so when Glendon was posting here.....

....I watched a few minutes of ONE of his videos and could tell it wasn't for me. I am just not a fan of that style of communicating.

I also am not a fan of the multitudes of "self help" gurus who are selling "positive thinking", real estate how-tos, etc.

HOWEVER, I love getting their materials in a storage locker so I can resell them on eBay !  THAT'S how they make ME money!

Autographed copies...those cost a lot more. Just kidding. Actually, if you're a member of the forum and you have at least ten posts, I would be glad to send you a digital copy...just send me a personal message.

Check your message box.

if you dont want it dont buy it no need to be a hater

Is it possible to be a "hater" of "haters" ?  If so, one should take one's own advice.

Believe it....or not !

Found this in an A&E article.

We got a Storage unit with a real flying Helicopter inside.

It's about 12/13 paragraphs down in the link below.

Here's the link:

Vehicles at Storage Auctions / Naval Vessels for sale at storage auction

Well, the Navy stores them, but not in your usual Public Storage location.

Here's one source for those of you who have made your fortunes at storage auctions, one microwave oven at a time.

Vehicles at Storage Auctions / Fire trucks found at storage auctions
« on: January 18, 2013, 02:13:54 PM »
Actually saw one of these at a storage auction a few years ago. A city was selling it.

Most firetrucks are found through government auctions of one kind or another.

Dealers usually get them..or other smaller cities.

Vehicles at Storage Auctions / Aircraft found at storage auctions
« on: January 18, 2013, 02:11:51 PM »
Rare? You bet, but the Auction Hunters have found them, so I guess we can.

Meanwhile, there are dealers who have acquired aircraft through auctions. Here's one of them.

Vehicles at Storage Auctions / Military Vehicles at Storage Auctions
« on: January 18, 2013, 02:10:26 PM »
Finding a military vechicle at a storage auction is about as rare (if not more rare) than finding a stash of gold coins from a sunken pirate ship.

However, there are still places that have acquired them at government auctions.

Here's one store in northern/central california.

Does anyone know what happened to jrossjr79? He hasn't been active on the forum in almost a year.

He jumped ship during the same time you weren't active. He went to storagetreasures.com where he is still posting.

He has several places he sells goods online, eBay not being one of them.

There are quite a few more differences between Glendon and I but I won't get into that. I would also estimate that we are both in similar income brackets. Although I'm sure book sales are down from their peak in 2011.

Why not get into it? It may provide some answers as to why he can ask $60 for a book which was the original premise of the topic.

What I meant was that I wouldn't want the pressure of having to "perform" to my following and try to come up with something new to keep them pleased. With this forum, it's not all on me, we all contribute to the content

Some more than others !

Also, I think we already established that storage auction search volume was on the decline.

Restating a fact (like restarting a thread on a subject covered long ago) helps those poor slobs who
don't know how to use a search engine within a forum. Also as time goes by the ups and downs are revealed during that passage of time. I'll post a thread showing the current status and then update it once a month so we can see the trend on a month by month basis.

Glendon is a self-promoter there is no doubt.  Here's the link to his Amazon efforts.
