You can't even get $20 an ounce right now for sterling so 2 lbs would be $640 on the high end. Not $2000. One of us did our math wrong.

i found a wm rogers tea set that looked similar to yours and it was worth squat(plated). In the same unit i found a silver water pitcher that was worth $300+ just in scrap(925 silver). make sure to look for markings to see if its silver or not, those things weigh a ton, its $300 or so in scrap if its silver, and its nice enough to where you could get $100 or more over scrap price depending on condition.

found a pretty cool little book in a unit a paid $100 for(also sold the bed for $60 and a hendrix poster for $10 plus plenty left to go). ill see if i can post a picture here, it seems pretty rare.

the auction is july 10th so ill let you know how i like it. I've done live and online but never anything like this.

I heard about these about a month ago. I don't know if this is localized to me or if its nationwide but heres how it works. All of the units are meticulously videotaped(about 100 in this case within a 50 mile radius) and all the buyers are all gathered in a room or auctionhouse with a big screen tv. I saw a caravan auction listed last month and tried to attend thinking it was a regular caravan, instead i found out i had to travel 45 minutes away to bid. unfortunately i wouldnt have made it in time. Well I know when and where to go this time lol, so i'll let you know how it goes. I'm in buying mode and there are i think 95 units up for grabs. most i've bought at once is 4 i think.

i won't mince words, if you do this on ebay you are screwed. You are better off running an ad in the paper advertising a "storage wars" type sale of the contents. You are in for a world of hurt if you try to do this on ebay. remember cash is king for a reason

158
its gonna be men by a land slide. mainly because with almost ANY couple, the man is going to get the unit  and load it.

i voted yes, i do this full time, my wife works full time. but when she can she takes offf for the better ones and comes with.

Ive found most my fixtures in storage lockers including clothing racks display cases shelving etc. The only thing I think I payed for were the pos system and signage.

Suggestion Center / Re: Board for Amazon sellers?
« on: June 27, 2014, 11:03:53 AM »
I disagree. I sell all my hardcover books and software there. There is a ton of stuff that sells better on amazon than ebay. Granted its probably only 5-10% of my sales its still a great outlet. PS ebay is only about 10-15% of my sales.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Why do you buy?
« on: June 18, 2014, 11:48:48 AM »
Appliances, power tools and military gear(im near an army base). I also like the mystery bins, hate black trash bags and boxes. I DO like movers boxes like Uhaul boxes etc because they had to pay money for them and its possible they used a moving company. if its obvious they used a company I love that.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: What am I missing..

for anyone who has done this awhile you KNOW the stuff isnt in those boxes. seeing that this is a 10x10 i wouldnt go to $1000, don't get me wrong it is a nice unit but hard for me to bid on stuff not there. although the briefcases ARE interesting. I'm also guessing there are a LOT of newer players and first timers doing this online, making the price go quite a bit higher. Almost looks like it could be a setup except there are 3 other units available at the same place(doesnt mean it isnt, just less likely). I DONT like the fact that they DONT have a cleaning deposit. that being said, if it were live id bid on it. Not sure how high. Its hard to get an idea how much is in there when you never get a shot through the front doors. Its all angles on sections, I think it makes it look bigger.

everything looks like trash except for the furniture and theres no way i would come close to $3000 on a unit like this. My max would be around $1k. It would take...20 hours maybe to haul this stuff? My other big problem with any online auction is you really dont get a good idea on the quality of the furniture. Very hard to see scratches and discolorations in pictures. Oh and smells. Don't get me wrong, i'd love to bid on the unit if it were absolute, no way with a $3k reserve. I'd save my $3k for a great looking unit and still have $2k left over.

What's it Worth?? / Re: Leather Jackets
« on: June 16, 2014, 10:37:12 AM »
i should have mentioned, that price is for regular old leather jackets, if they are dusters or exceptionally nice i research them a little more and adjust price accordingly. Also keep in mind I always sell things QUICK. turn and burn so i may not get as high a dollar as some.
