eBay / Re: Have you ever been dinged by negative feedback?

Have you ever been dinged by negative feedback and if so did it hurt your sales for a while?

I've gotten 1 (out of 950 plus) and the details are in the paragraph below which I copied and pasted from
an earlier thread in this forum.

Years ago I received a negative feedback for a Princess House item I sold. The buyer said it wasn't Princess House though it was shipped in its original PH box and had the PH pattern in the glass. That negative feedback stayed with me for 1 solid year until it cleared out. At that time I was able to give the buyer negative feedback as well. Now, 7 years later, my feedback has gone from 100 or so (then) to almost 1,000 now (not a lot, but I'm happy with it). Meanwhile the person who left me the negative STILL has 10 feedback and they are ALL as a buyer.

While it didn't hurt my business, it hung around for a year before going away. Fortunately, those buyers who do look at your profile for feedback results take this with a grain of salt and for the most part, most of them won't go through each of 10 or more pages to find the negative.  Update on the other person's feedback: It went from 10 to 11. The person bought one item this year and actually got feedback from the seller.

my observations on the shore thing episode 3

I have never gone to jersey for an auction so I cant say for sure BUT I have never been to any auction where 90-95% of the crowd was white

ham radio looks like a plant  so does the rolex

Plants sound right to me. The presence of a quality radio like that in a blue tote (covered by a bad mattress) along with a stuffed animal and some other toy just BEGS to tell us it was planted. They showed no imagination on that one.

For the two guys to find the Rolex (without a band) in a dresser drawer with other loose miscellaneous was more believable, but STILL begs the question of being for real. Now if it turned out to be a knock-off it would have been easier to swallow.

I guess the producers of these shows are like the big banks...TOO BIG TO FAIL.

Are Cabbage Patch kids dead ?

Birth certificates not-withstanding....maybe now there would be a market for after-market death certificates for the individually named dolls.

Are Beanie Babies still collectible?

Several years ago I sold a batch of 50 for $75 to one of the members here. I've forgotten his name, but am sure I could find it by looking through the threads on Beanies.

I haven't gotten anyone's collection in years now, but when I did only the bears did well for me and that might have been $3 to $10 each. The rest, $1 each and finally gave them away to kids when parents made a purchase of something else. The goodwill was worth as much (if not more) as the sales.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Storage Lockers and Big Dump Fees
« on: January 09, 2013, 10:07:02 AM »
It's no surprise to long-time buyers that there is almost always a lot of trash in the lockers and that means not only the work of disposing of it, but the cost as well.

What is the most you have paid in dump fees?

Stories about Storage Auctions / Selling Store Cards on eBay
« on: January 09, 2013, 10:05:19 AM »
How do eBay sellers of store cards (like Home Depot) make any money on them?

I have seen Home Depot cards with a value of $200 sell on eBay for $180 as an example.  The only thing I can think is that the seller of this card bought it from some hard-up person and gave THAT person maybe $50 to $100 for it and then is flipping it on eBay.

OR....person "A" buys it with a credit card for $200 (defaults on the cc payment) and sells the card for cash to person "B" for $100 and THEN person "B" sells it for $180 on eBay. Something might go wrong somewhere along that line for the crooks trying it.
