In my opinion it doesn't make sense to address any comments to Glendon in this forum.

Way to go Movieman..

Well, the safe is a definite go all right. I took the check to my branch of his bank and they cashed it but took out $5 because I don't have an account there !  FRIGGIN' banks....they and the oil companies have us over a barrel.

Then, the recliner appt didn't show up !  I think that was the first in about a year, but still a pain in the ass. Inconsiderate people.

Good news !

Been talking on the phone for a couple of days now with a possible buyer for the SAFE from this lkr.
Today I got his $100 deposit on the $500 sale; he's coming from almost 200 miles away, but his check is drawn on a chain bank, so I'm on my way to cash that today.

He arrives Monday or Tuesday (10/31 or 11/1) with the cash balance.

This sale was made through Craigslist where I was asking $600.

I have $330 in safe opening costs, so I will net about $170 on the safe.

I will try to remember to take a camera for the loading "ceremony".... I won't be providing any extensive help !

*******

After the bank I go to the safe lkr where people are coming to look at the leather dual-recliner. Hoping that will be a sale too.  ;D

Too ironic.... y'all are too funny.... Hope I don't find one like that.

If you do this long enough you WILL get one like that, and maybe more than one. Even a very good examination  of a lkr isn't a guarantee.

Movie Man , do You know of a  Tom Litton ?

Yes, he does about 6 auctions up and down the valley here. I think he does them in several places around the country too, but don't know how he figures in to those remote locations.

I don't know what to think about this month, maybe it's an anomaly.

Yep, each month offers new oddities in buying patterns and prices.  I talked to one of our 4 major auctioneers the other day who does auctions from San Francisco and up and down the central California valley. He indicated that it is getting more common to see 12 (or as many as 20) lkrs originally coming up for auction and going down to 5 by auction time.

He regretted having to send his helper on a 100 mile round trip to cut 20 locks only to cut 5 when he got here.

He thinks the TV shows are showing people they REALLY WILL lose their stuff if they don't pay up. The day I talked to him he had expected to cut 13 locks and only cut 5. He said the lkrs weren't that great and of course depending on the crowd that would affect HIS income that day.  I didn't say anything, but I didn't have much sympathy for him !  ;)

Owner ask what we will give I said $5 the other guy said nothing.  Owner said he was starting the bidding @ $50 I told him forget that.  He started on about trying to recover rent lost.  I told him I did not see any money for me to cover gas,  time, and $50.

He said he would just go through it himself OK by me $5 is top.

In the parking lot me and the other guy agreed someone has been watching to much TV or it was some kind of set up.

I liked your response to the prop mgr when he said he was trying to recover some of HIS loss ! If her were smarter he would have taken your $5 and saved himself the trouble of cleaning it out. Even if he found something worth $50 he still had to make some trips to his facility dumpster.  His loss.

I won a 10 x 10 3/4 full.
How is that for irony!  ::)

That's ironic all right. Maybe the only thing more ironic would be getting the leftovers of some buyer like us who finally gives up on the game and just leaves all his auction-acquired leftovers in a locker; or maybe finding a storage locker full of "How to Make Money Buying Storage Auction" books and DVDs !   ;D

Can you say, "Dual Tuner DVR?"

Wow, don't know how I missed that time change announcement...that's a biggie in the programming world. Wondering what their thought process was.

Anyway, as often as both shows are re-broadcast it won't be a problem picking up on any missed episode; also I know at least SW broadcasts full episodes on their website....see link below.

I'm excited about the safe.  Probably just papers, but who knows.  Soon it will succumb either to my picks or to power tools, then we'll know.

Do a search inside the forum here and just type in "safes" or something similar; you get some thread(s) to read which may allow you to get inside your safe and later sell it without cutting or blowing it up.

Bandit....

They actually found BOTH those at ONE facility !  The first was under a canvas which had mattresses piled on top and a particle board chest in front of it.

The second was in another lkr (owned by a different tenant) and was way at the back and pretty much concealed by 50 boxes of old newspapers formerly used in kitty litter boxes...what a stink!

Unfortunately after the 10 day mandatory waiting period, the two owners had paid the back dmv fees and the boys lost the goodies...but they got the mattresses, kitty papers, etc !  ;D
