I missed the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half hour of SW, but it's looking interesting anyway....

Barry got into a bidding war with a guy on two lockers...he got one of them and has just found an interesting box of vials of.....something... and an old penny arcade machine.

Meanwhile Dave lays out $9K for a lkr with maybe 90 or so boxes of ..... some kind of light show boxes (maybe disco type). All new in boxes from China....end of show will give us an idea of his outrageous profit.

Darrel....leaves saying he's not here to be in a "p....." contest.

Jarrod and Brandi....paid $2,800 for a lkr .... not full at all. Knott's Berry Farm ...will it be the key to a fortune.

SW, Wednesday, August3, 2011

As usual, the lockers pour forth some goodies...

Darrel seems off his mark (like he's sick or something) but that doesn't stop him from scoring a slide projector
that might actually be worth something.

Dave....paid big for a junk lkr but knowing Dave (and the producers) those old posters will be worth their weight in GOLD....and at today's price for gold ! ?

Jarrod and Brandi....didn't get a lkr.

Barry .... looks behind a couch and even he says "unbelievable"....you'll have to watch....I can't describe it.

Another new episode coming up tonight !

Just starting this "storage war" stuff .... Just loving it ..... This situation is disappointing, but will not stop future auctions....will just have to take my taser with meeee (jk)
Good luck in your future auction adventures....

Yes, it is fun....especially in the beginning....later the fun is still there but it becomes more like work when you do it on a regular, on-going basis.

People who carry large sums of money to these auctions often have some kind of defense mechanism along with them whether it's legal in their state or not.

....as far as calling the cops, I will inform the man that I was a State Trooper for 26 years and will not tolerate any of his nonsense.

That ought to do it ! Do you get to keep your badge when you leave?  I got a correctional officer locker that had a lot of uniforms, etc, including a nice, black, basketweave badge/id holder...no badge though ! Also if you had a "nightstick" the mere sight of that would deter me !

First, for you:

If it's already becoming a problem, let the police know this guy is bugging you. The earlier you do that the better; then if things start heating up you will have let them know ahead of time and a history of his contacts can be built.

Whether you let HIM know you have done that (or will do that) you will have to figure out for yourself. Depending on his personality and how you let  him know, it could stop it dead in its tracks or could make it worse.

Second, for everyone else:

Let anyone you know from the auctions that the prop mgr did this bad thing. Let the auctioneer know as well. When this happens, all those who know will bring pressure to bear and you can bet it won't happen again to someone else.

I have found that for the most part the prop mgrs are not the brightest bulbs in the box, though of course some are great and some are in the middle when thinking things through. Any mgrs who read this, don't get upset....YOU are the exception.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Lookey Loos Part 8.....August, 2011
« on: August 02, 2011, 07:04:37 PM »
Went to my first August, 2011 auctions today. Nothing special to report.

Crowds moderate (maybe 25 or so) and mostly newbies.

5 lkrs at each of two facilities. No dynamite lkrs. Prices about double what I would have bid, and I didn't bid at all as they all looked pretty junky to me. Prices were in the $200 to $350 range for everything from a 5 x 10 to a 10 x 10.

Never mind, I found your source:

http://buyingatauctionsforprofit.blogspot.com/2011/02/storage-wars-fake.html

Everything is clearer now.  That blog was posted in February, 2011 and written by a fellow named Chad Wesley.

Some of the comments in the latter part of Post #1 above appear to be cut and paste from this link:

I'm confused. After the words STORAGE WARS FAKE? in your post above, is all that follows YOU saying those things or is it from somewhere else?

I see later in those paragraphs "ASKER" or some such which makes me wonder if this is a cut and paste from some comments section somewhere. Please provide some clarification/attribution.

I also ask this because at one point there is this statement:

"I was telling my friend about the show and he told me it's not real, and he goes to auctions. If this is so I find it a pity since I was interested in the show when incepted and feel duped having believed the treasures found"

and I was under the impression that YOU attended auctions and even started lkrs high to draw in the newbies to spend their money unwisely.  The statement I provide in red just above doesn't sound like it would come from YOU. Could you clarify? Thanks.

Both of the videos in this post are only 30 seconds long, so not too much of your lives wasted !  ;D

There are many of these videos on YouTube: Here's one that given the price and the product received seems somewhat typical. How he paid that much I don't know; even in my area from the view I think we would have had I can't imagine more than $300 for it.

The next one is entitled "Jackpot find from a storage locker"....what an idiot. Read the comments too, they're funny as well.

What I don't understand is why someone would put it in the title.  You get such limited space as it is without paying another 0.50 cents for another line why waste it saying that the itme came from a storage auction?

Here's what eBay is starting in September, 2011.

Coming next month: 25 EXTRA characters in your title to draw more buyers to your listings!
Starting next month, you'll have additional characters--to include more keywords and descriptors to get your listings in front of more interested buyers. Be sure to start using all 80 characters in your listing titles as soon as they are available the first week in September.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: What to do Office Furniture?
« on: August 02, 2011, 09:51:07 AM »
Sorry your mover didn't show up. I don't know why people don't follow through on committments...money out of his pocket too.

Would it make sense to have TWO of those folks show up (explaining to them that there will be 2 movers there, and the reason you are doing that)?

Meanwhile, I see you have deleted the CL post that had larger pictures. Don't understand that, but guess you have your reasons.

Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Re: Storage Wars Dallas
« on: August 01, 2011, 09:46:15 AM »
You guys mentioned the filming in Dallas you went to. Does anyone know if there is a schedule of where they might be filming the show? Is so where is it posted or how can we get intel. Someone said if you show up they will get a release from you and put you on the show as a background bidder. I would at least like to watch.

If you're referring to the pics posted by TCLane, look at his blog for all the details he was able to provide.

As to any kind of list of where they are going, GOOD LUCK !  Travis got his pics by sure luck...he showed up at an auction which turned out to be cancelled and they were just there. They appear to all be tight-lipped about the tapings possibly fearing some kind of negative reaction or at the least more confusion to the process.

When you consider all the people involved, producers, camera, sound, maybe even MAKE-UP it is a circus I'm sure.

Travis did contact me and I did add links to the signatures fake member names of post he originated as a courtesy.

That was nice of you !

These types of techniques are common, although unethical, it's not illegal.

Only unethical...in that case it's all right !
