Selling it may take some skill, it works just fine but it's 11 years old.  I

Anything you make on the tv will be gravy as you will be getting so much back from the smalls.

Just wondering how many of you use or have used a storage auction listing service. How are or were the results of the one you used?

Haven't paid for one. One of the local ones posts the auctions THEY do and I sometimes get the rest of them from a friend who subscribes.  For the limited size of the circle I am willing to explore I don't need to know about a bunch outside that circle.

Be interesting to see what answers you get here.

It never surprises me how many idiots don't bring umbrellas.

They are hoping to get one in a locker.  ;D

Start with the DMV to see if there are any past due fees. If there are, you'll have to pay them IF you can proceed.

If vehicle has a lien-holder (like a bank), then you have to deal with them to see if they want to give you their release of interest. If they are owed a lot of money on the vehicle and it suddenly comes to light, they might want to retain ownership. Don't know how that would affect you.

In my area if there is a vehicle in the locker and the mgrs have not gone through work to get title, the vehicle is not sold until that happens (next auction or two later). OR if it appears to be a junker or work in progress, they may sell it as parts thus alleviating them of any responsibility for it.

This is as much as I know about it. I've gotten three  motorcycles and one of them took 11 months to clear. The other two went right through as no money was owed on them and no back fees.

Don't they pay a regular actor's rate? It seems like it would be a lot of work to be a buyer for that show. They don't just follow you around, they have to set up every shot like the other fake "reality" shows.

There's more we don't know about the behind-the-scenes details than what we do know.

One thing I'm sure of....there are non-disclosure agreements in place !

Auction was in Minneapolis, crowd was in the upper 30's.  Unit was a 10X10 and from the door, all you could see was the couch's stacked on top of each other with the mattresses stacked on top of the couch's, and the big 55" tv blocked the rest of the view.  Only two guys were bidding, it was up to $225, I threw out my $230 bid and to my excitement I got it.

A good, educated, play and it paid off. Congratulations!

Now THAT's a great locker ! (and especially for the price)

A buyer here in central California got an Ashley locker a couple of weeks ago, but paid $2300 for it....10 times what you paid. Haven't heard yet how it is pannning out.

eBay / Re: Do you leave feedback immediately upon recieving payment?
« on: April 24, 2011, 11:26:28 AM »
Yeah it sucks sellers cant leave feedback anymore. Now buyers can wait as long as they want to pay and you can't do anything about it. Send repeat invoices or even dare open a non payment claim after they havn't paid for 10 days and your going to get bad feedback.

After 5 days if I have not received payment I send the buyer an email which says, "Hi there...I have your (item) packaged up and ready to send to you. Just waiting for your payment and your (item) will go right out. Thanks!"

This gives them the idea, but doesn't have a negative tone (at least that's what I THINK). This has worked in all but one case, and I finally had to file a non-payment claim. He never responded to that either and I got final value fees back and had to relist it.

The listing fees aren't a big hit (the ones I don't get back on a bad transaction) because it usually only costs me 10 cents to 20 cents to list. I usually list about 10 to 20 a month and on a pretty regular basis (for me anyway) the first 50 listings are free or 10 cents each.

I still believe in eBay (overall) with just a few places for dis-satisfaction.

The feedback I have received as a seller outweighs my feedback as a buyer by a ratio of 90 to 1.

They sell me something, I receive it, I leave them feedback and usually they will leave me feedback.

I have bought items and the seller has immediately sent me feedback before I received the item. That's OK if they want to do it, but I still wait to get the item before I send them feedback and I give the feedback based on what I received.
I don't think I've ever given a negative feedback, nor have I had to dispute something I bought.

What gets me are the low feedback buyers (10 or less, maybe up to 25) who don't seem to have a clue about the process or what it means to MOST sellers. They seem not to know about communicating by email for a mutually
beneficial outcome, but rather will just post a neg or a neutral which is then harder to rectify. Oh well, it takes all kinds I guess.

Welcome to the forums.

Enjoyed reading your post about the $27,000 locker.

The more auctions you go to of course you're bound to see some good lockers, but
your observation is certainly true that by and large they are ordinary and often bought
at prices beyond their return value, at least at the present time. Conditions vary from place to place of course.
Yes, there are some good buys being made.

Now, THAT'S the wow factor both in contents and price !

Would have been fun to see the action.

What is the name of the pistol shaped light Alan uses??

It's been a year or so, but I THINK it was a Stanley. Seem to remember getting it at Sears.
When the switch was clicked once it went to the leds and a second click took it to a regular bulb. Never
could figure out what that was about. It was rechargeable and came with the home adapter.

I BELIEVE that a lot of the lights  of that general kind are made in China by one or more manufacturers who
brand it with the name of the chain that buys it, Sears, Lowes, HomeDepot, etc. If Sears bought a 100K or so I'm sure the mfg wouldn't mind stamping it with Craftsman (or whatever their next line down is).

The TrustFire borrows (I think) on the SureFire name and technology.

Craigslist / Re: Craigslist just got easier!!

Sorry, thought you might like to use bigger pictures. I use html on eBay for larger pics within text and avoid paying any extra fees for larger pics. Extended that idea to CL.

I don't know how many people still use dial-up, but I understand large pics certainly would load slower for those who do. Not implying that you do.

As to the spam, yes, I try to keep on top of that here....seems to get bad from time to time and some of the new members are just timebombs waiting to spam us.

So even regulars are bidding a lot higher than they normally would for the simple fact they need more product.

This is exactly what is happening in my area. Can't sell from empty shelves.
