Well, "Bill" might be a new one in the lineup, but they were recruiting for Miami, New York and Dallas which to me says 12 weeks or so in each city with a new crew in each city...they need to keep it fresh.

The more honest approach at finds and values is refreshing....I'm still waiting to see a dump run though. That's what I suggested to their recruiter who looked for input here on these forums.

I see you have health insurance on your mind in your email and website info in your profile.

Wednesday, April 13, 2011...

Dave and Darrell aren't in the running tonight so Barry and Jarrod go for it.....

so far, just bidding....but Jarrod is losing it to "Bill" for $2600.....Barry thinks the guy will lose his shirt..maybe break even...we'll never know. Jarrod should be glad he quit.

Oops....here comes Darrell !
Gets one at $1k.  Says..."that was expensive."

Jarrod gets to look at the lkr he lost....finds some stuff and gives the new owner an idea of value.

Bill said earlier he was quitting his job to do auction buying full time !

Barry looks in his trunk....finds....(a commercial)...and then....nothing in the trunk. Finds some furs...which
he gives to Dave!

Darrell paid a grand for a locker....nothing but trash and some old books...book guy says.....$4 for "The Sun Also Rises" and $200 for a Hemingway book...oh well, Darrell...can't win 'em all.

I give 5 stars to this episode for REALITY !  You go guys !

Storage Wars Marathon Sunday with a new episode at the end of the trek with Darrell and Dave getting into finger pointing and name-calling !

Went to 3 auctions today...the first 2 by same auctioneer...good news and bad news.

Good news is that only 18 people in attendance at two auctions. The crowd was split to 3 cities each about 40 miles apart.

First place had 4 units. The 4th was a 10 x 5....5 feet deep. It was piled about 3 feet high with tools, but pretty beat up. A regular bought it for $775. Oh my !

Second place had 7 I think it was. Last one was best a 10 x30 but only about 2/3 full with a path down the middle. Good quality stuff, but not enough to justify the winning bid of $1,025. Oh well; I stopped at $700.

Third auction of the day was  a different auctioneer. Funny things was that one semi-old-timer was telling his friend "nobody know about this, I'm telling you."  I was sure he was talking about one I knew about and when I got there, there he was ! Crowd was once again about 18 with some variety. At all three auctions half the crowd were newbies.

Funny thing is he got two units at $375 (10 x 10 a little rough looking) and a 10 x 30 about 2/3 full for $600. The 2nd one had a pickup cab in it and lots of dashboards and radiators laying on the ground. Boxes of other car parts. Not for me.

So another bust day. Guess I'll move to near Memphis where apparently the pickings are better and you can get a locker for $1 and make $800 off it.  ::)

Here's another one....in my opinion...and he's on right now at 5:10 pm Pacific Time, 4 13 2011.

grow taller

even his screen name here is a dead giveaway, let alone his web link in his profile.

Here's another SPAMMER.

aceceiniolop

He joined in late March and has just made his first post.

Spam all over the place...this one IS from the UK.

Been doing research on this and the misuse of forums is incredible.

There are several websites which allow you to plug in a website name and it tells you who is BEHIND the website.

The "spider-web" that is the internet is great for us in some ways, but a real spider TRAP in other ways.

I hope Drew can find some tools to get rid of these members who are obviously (or not obviously) using this forum to promote their hemmoroid treatments, poster board sales, etc.

:o Looks like you may have stumbled on to something here Movieman :o Spammers are always searching for new ways to do their dirty deeds!

bEmmettPitmanp list his website    hemorrhoids treatment no doubt a spammer

Yep, I just saw that myself. Apparently these folks join forums (and there are a ton here) and then a little later (an hour or a day) they come back, either change their profile, or actually post, then the fun begins.

Here's another one:

aFeliciaBarrons

This one meets the name "twist" I mentioned above and you can bet there is mischief afoot.

Drew....hope you see this and can somehow monitor the members usage on non-usage. Perhaps this is part of
what accounts for nearly 2000 members but little response by the bulk of them.

This looks like some useful info about this topic. Reading down through it, it seems that this technique might be what is being used in our forum.

edit: reading about SEO (search engine optimization) is worthwhile too.

The Lounge / Something I have noticed about some new MEMBERS here.....
« on: April 13, 2011, 09:32:07 AM »
I check out the new members periodically and ONE of the things I have noticed is this....a fair number of them have
a particular "twist" to their names. Here's an example"

bEmmettPittmanp

The "twist" I am talking about is the lowercase letter ahead of and after the main name. This seems odd to me and
I wonder if it isn't some automatic name being generated somewhere, somehow.

A couple of these folks have no apparent email address or web address, but several of them are from the UK.

Is this just one or more people using some "bot" to radomly generate memberships, or are these people really
interested in auction storage buying and selling?

Anyone have knowledge of such things?

Show hits new bottom in fake quality.

Tuesday, April 12, 2011...

The adventure continues...I mean....the setup continues.

Tonight the dynamic duo got 2 of 4 lkrs (the other two were crap). Both lkrs were true winners and
any one of us would have been happy to get 1 of them out of 50 we bought, but not these guys. Two for two and they
are double-deluxe.

This show's gotta go....I'm not sure even a NEWBIE would believe this overload.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: What should you do when...
« on: April 12, 2011, 09:01:01 PM »
Take a peek along with him AND complain again.  If he gets away with it with one auctioneer he will try it with
another....maybe the next auctioneer won't be so forgiving.

April is looking like crap so far.

It's not over yet, that's for sure (it being high prices). Auction today for me was cancelled. Have some Wed and Thurs. Hoping for the best.
