This article highlights ANOTHER downside of the storage auction TV Shows; locker renters now see they could lose their goods, SO THEY PAY THEIR BILLS !   What a concept.

Lots of people involved in EDUCATING newbies about the business of buying storage lockers.

Here's an article from Extra Space aimed at newbies who have been watching the tv shows. Their opening lines are even half way honest about the "reality". Then they push the fetures that ST has been promoting to help newbies.

General Storage Auction Talk / Metal Detectors in auction lockers
« on: November 12, 2013, 04:18:37 PM »
Has anyone ever gotten a metal detector in a storage locker?  This would be the good ones by Whites, etc, not the $30 Radio Shack variety.  ;D

General Storage Auction Talk / What is Glendon Cameron up to these days?

I never watched more than 2 minutes of even one video and certainly never bought any of his "books".

What's he up to in November, 2013 ?

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. "

Lao-tzu, The Way of Lao-tzu
Chinese philosopher (604 BC - 531 BC)

The more correct translation is "The journey of a thousand miles begins beneath one's feet."

********

In our gal's case, the one in blue above is more appropriate !  ;D

Don't judge a toolbox by its logo.

A half full box is better than a half empty box.

Today you will sneeze a log

Black widows are your friends.

Beware of foul smelling 5 gallon containers.

In her broken "spanglish" she yelled....."Leggo my lego !"

Wish I had more to say that was good about this set of two auctions.

Unfortunately the 5 or so at the first place were junk. I didn't even bid on a single piece.

The second place at 12. A guy who usually spend a couple of hundred bucks, spent $30. Another spent $25. I spent $5.

That says it all....losing proposition. The purchase I made will go for $40 and I just bought it because I knew I could move it and it would pay for the gas and some of the time I spent.

One doesn't know of course unless one goes to see what's there, but that didn't stop one fellow from telling me "You could have stayed at home and made that much."  Monday morning quarterbacking only works after the game is over.

Saw this seller again this weekend at the flea market. He still had 20 pots though I don't know if they were the same ones as last weekend.

He paid $500 for the locker. You can look back through the posts above and see who was closest. I would have gone $200.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Guess what I paid
« on: November 10, 2013, 03:28:27 PM »
Here is a youtube video I took with my phone.  I did not move anything.

I have a history of overpaying.  My limit for this one was $450.  I am a chef so I know that Viking is a great brand.  Curious what you guys think

Watching that video was like looking at a listing on an online storage auction website !  In other words, non-conclusive.

From the 35 seconds or so view (in 2 dimensions, without the depth perception and sense of being there) I can't tell what YOU paid for it, but I can tell you what I would have paid for it....maybe $200.

I can tell you that I bought two pieces of stainless steel cooking equipment for a total of $40 and sold them for a total of $400. That's what I like about picking !  ;D

Well, he was actually at 995 posts at the time this was written but I'm sure he'll get there today!

Congratulations buddy! Thanks for being part of our humble little community.

Alias300 = 995
Alias       = 200

Total       =????

I'll start it and I expect 3,100 contributions from 3,100  members by the end of the month.

"You will find used diapers today. Wear gloves."

"Your fortune awaits you."

"Don't bid against Darryl."

"Help! Trapped inside a 5x5 at Polk and Lex in Chicago."

"Free listings at this (deleted) web address"

Get the idea ?

Friggin' Hippy, first comes the jamming, next you'll be passing the joint.

Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine. (on one leg yet !)
