Looking to buy silver, not really interested in junk silver but silver eagles, pandas, kreugerands, maple leafs, philharmonics, bars, generics. Always paying at least spot price sometimes more depending upon what you have.

Here's the biggest problem with that. People need to get in and out of the storage facilities with large trucks, cars, boats, trailers, I don't think the storage facility will want retail traffic clogging up their parking lots or even worse the narrow lanes between units.

Storage facilities also have the placed locked down for a reason, they don't want random people roaming around their facility. Witha  retail operation in there every person who comes to buy a toaster from you has to get through the locked gates somehow.

I have seen some storage facilities basically turn the retail space where the noramlly sell boxes and locks and stuff into a sort of makeshift resale shop so its not something that can't be done but when I've seen it its normally the owner running the store not a third party, they already have someoen paid to sit there all day anyway why not also have them ring things up.

Only other issue I can think of is if they have auctions it may either be or at the very least seem like a conflict of interst someone they are in a business partnership with is buying all their units.

Yeah ever since the begininng I've always seen auctioneers or facility owners on the phone with "proxy bidders" no way to really know if there's anyone on the other end of the line, i dont know how anyone could bid sight unseen.

eBay / Some people are never happy....
« on: June 04, 2013, 12:20:40 PM »
Had an ebay story to share, nothing groundbeaking but had one of those customers that makes some of us hate ebay at times.

Had a customer buy two products from me on a Friday evening. I happenned to pack up all my orders right away on Friday night. In the middle of the night he sends a bunch of messages first he's confused with what did he order, then he says he wanted a quantity of 1 but not two, then in another message he says he did order correctly, then sends a message saying he's within the 24 hours you have to cancel so he wants to change order.

Well first off I don't believe there is a 24 hour rule to cancel but I hadn't shipped items yet so I give him a call in the morning. He askes me to swap out one item for another item. At first I tell him I'll refund one item and please either rebuy or I'll invoice him through paypal to keep inventory straight and everything on record with ebay correct. He seems stupid doesn't understand I finally say fine and agree just to swap one item for another but not change anything on paper. Well after getting off the phone I realize his order had already shipped I pulled the wrong one.

Yes I did make a mistake but it was basically because of confusion caused by him making a mistake when ordering or more likely changing his mind after ordering.

I email him, very apologetic, admit I made a mistake, apologize, give him several options to remedy the situation offered to pay for shipping back and send out other product overnight for free, also offer if he wants to keep what he ordered and order another I'll give it to him at cost. basically offer him like 3 or 4 options in which I'm paying for everything and/or giving him another product at cost. He continues to email me "i dont understand how you pulled the wrong order" , "i doubt you have another customer named brian" , "i dont get how this can happen" , "im sick of excuses on ebay, I'll take this as a lesson learned"

I'm trying to bend over backwards to accomdoate him and all he wants to do is continue harping on a mistake that yes I did make, however because of him changing his mind after ordering. he's out nothing aside from maybe getting one product a day or two later.

Like I said not exatly a horror story and nothing groundbreaking but another example of someone who is just never going to be happy no matter what. Awaiting bad feedback but hoping he's too lazy to leave it.

eBay / Re: eBay Double / Triple your money tip
« on: June 04, 2013, 12:11:58 PM »
Here's my top tips for making more money...

1. Open a store, take advantage of discounts on both shipping and final value fees.

2. Use ink frog or another free or paid software to help make more professional templates for your listings, there's also alot of helpful features in those programs to automate your ebay listing ie send reminders asking for feedback after 10 days if people havn't left it, sending out newsletters to your customers, automatically sending thank you notes and tracking info.

3. Market to your ebay customers. I send out newsletters and text messages of new product offerings and specials.

4. Focus on customer service. Yes some people will abuse ebya and try to take advantage of you and it's easy to fall into that mindset of I'm not bending at all. Overall though if your keep your ego in check and have a customer is always right aprocahc, within reason of course, your ebay business will grow.

eBay / Re: Selling jeans internationally
« on: May 24, 2013, 01:36:56 PM »
if your part of that ebay global program where you ship it to them and then ship it on I'd say go ahead. otherwise its too many problems. people get mad when their own countries customs hold things too long or it takes too long to ship all things that are out of your control. plus more risk for scammers.

eBay / Re: What's Your Worst eBay Horror Story ?
« on: May 24, 2013, 01:33:32 PM »
anything with pickup options. since there's no tracking number all a buyer has to do is say they never got the item and they get their money back. thats why you never take paypal for a pickup. i got burned like this.

guy did this to me after he had me drop the item off at his home. not only was i surprised b/c i went out of my way for him and agreed to take pp against my better judgement but he does this to me when he knwos i now know where he lives.

Well guess what I did, I .... well I'll tell ya in 6 years when the statute of limitarions expires lol

eBay / Re: Man I love old cameras and their accessories
« on: May 24, 2013, 01:28:05 PM »
I find tons of good camera finds at the flea market. It's crazy now that someone is making polaroid film again all these hipsters are buying polaroid cameras. Urban outfitters is selling refurbished polaroid 600's for like $180. I been picking them up like crazy at flea markets for like $5 a piece

good in theory, i hear of people doing it, tried it myself once or twice but honstly i think its a waste of time. i think people hope to find out some big sports memorbilia collector died and has a unit for auction or something but try researching a few names and you'll most likely soon find out you either find nothing interesting or just find yellowpages listings and myplace websites

Unless it's something like Thomas the Train, train sets or something that sells easily and gets a good buck alot of kid stuff is cheap and the type of moms who buy it are the type who hit the thrift store several times a week and garage sale regularly. They are looking for bargains.

It's not just storage auctions, I've been going to Police Auctions for years and it's the same way. Ever since all these auction kings, storage wars, pawn stars, shows have come on you got lots of new people trying to enter the business, more people trying to do a side hustle and amke a few extra bucks and those who come just for entertainment or just to check it out.
