eBay / Re: Nice "Feedback" from an eBay Buyer

When you go and suggest on this site (which aids me in my work) that I sent you something and signed it with the word love, then yes I feel a need to respond to it just as if it were job related sexual harassment. That's still illegal, isn't it?

Boy, that is REALLY grasping at straws. It would be a first though; a lawsuit filed because that kind of comment was made on a public forum. Now if it was a pattern of hundreds of such comments directed at you by a single person, maybe, but sexual harassment?

Wow, you have gone off the deep end on this one. (of course that's only my opinion; maybe some of the people who post here will give you a SMITE for such rubbish.)

What I see is that you keep trying to throw blame for your actions on every one but yourself.

Really? And I thought I was quite open and honest about my adventures in locker buying, etc.

I take full responsibility for what I do here and elsewhere. Why I even admit I drive above the speed limit, not just to "maintain the flow of traffic" as you do.  ;D

So that's how you justify screwing with it and ruining it's potential use? It should've occurred to you that even though there are hundreds of people lurking here that don't post, they can very easily click the smite link if they don't like what you wrote.

You obviously haven't figured out how this system works or you wouldn't have posted...."even though there are hundreds of people lurking here that don't post, they can very easily click the smite link if they don't like what you wrote."

The fact is that a person CAN NOT cast a smile or smite check if he/she has not posted here. There are more limitations than that, but I'll leave it to you to figure out what they are...you also could ask Travis as he sets the parameters.

So, it means that if a person such as myself or you or anyone is getting a large number of either smiles or smites, that it could easily be coming from just a few people....even ONE person.

But I will tell you this...one can't give oneself a smile...or a smite (for those inclined toward masochism)

What next from you..."I'm rubber and you're glue..."

No, that would be childish, so I'll leave it to you...maybe you have learned from Travis too !

Um, no it wasn't.

And you felt a need to actually respond to that ?  Most people would have seen it as the logical response to your comment that it was 'love mom'. In fact, it is VERY typical of the kind of response our leader would have posted. Maybe I'm learning from Travis !

No you didn't do or say anything wrong. MovieMan is arbitrarily smiting the regulars around here out of spite for all the negative karma he's been getting.

There's nothing arbitrary about any of the smiting or smiling anyone here is doing. Anyone who is doing it has their reasons...unfortunately most of those reasons have nothing to do with valuing or de-valuing a post made by any given member. Instead the smites are being used to promote negative feelings about any given member simply out of ....SPITE...rhymes with smite.

The Karma program (do some research) was originally designed to allow for quick responses to a posting in a given thread, but that's not how it has played out on a variety of websites which use it.  I saw one website where a poster could not use it until they had 340 posts. That's not how it is here, and given the number of people who post here it (and the extent to which they post here) it should be obvious that the rating system is being abused, though not every abuser will admit to it.  ;D

I couldn't help but notice that you cut off "Love, Mom"

Hey, I was just trying to protect you, but ...it was 'love Alloro' .  ;D

:o Huh? Without a store a 7 day listing costs something like $2.50 doesn't it? With a store a 30 day listing is 20 cents. That's 20 cents a month versus $10 a month for that one listing. Multiply those figures by all of your listings against the monthly fee for a basic store of like $15 and I see a significant savings.

eBay must have many algorithims for what they charge people. I've been selling for 10 years there and the last "x" years have not been charged for listings. I usually put border around my listings and that is 10 cents.  If it is a buy it now I think they charge me 30 cents.  Other than that, no listing charges.

Oh, and Alloro...here's another smite for you...not random at all ! ;D

Ebay is boring  and prices are always almost retail anymore.

Yep, eBay is boring....that's what I say everytime PayPal transfers my eBay sales payments to my bank account.

Yep, eBay prices are almost retail anymore....espcially on something that was made in the 1960s and is no longer available at retail. An item sold originally for $5.95 and brings $79.95 fifty years later and only cost me $2 at yard sale !

eBay / Re: EBAY - FREE 500 LISTINGS
« on: September 10, 2013, 10:35:43 AM »
How much was the insertion fee? $0.30

****

How many listings have you done in the last two weeks to one month?
estimate:
120 or so in past 30 days
52 this month

How many feedback do you have?
230

What prices are you asking for your items?
$1 to $80

How long have you been an eBay member?
Over 10 years

Just wondering if there is a way to prompt the specials?

I'll provide similar information and you can see if any of that might make a difference.

How many listings have I done in the last two weeks to one month?
estimate:
about 15 to 20 a month with 10 or so selling each month.

How many feedback do I have?
1,000 plus

What prices am I asking for my items?
$10 to $500, average $40 to $75

How long have I been an eBay member?
Just under 10 years

So, there are some similiarities and some differences. You can decide if any of them make any difference.
and here's the simple answer to your original question.  Why not just call them and talk to a live person
and get the answer (maybe) from the source.

Apparently I hit the wall - just got billed an Insertion Fee on my last eBay Post.

Anyone know a way to get them to give the special no insertion fee?

How much was the insertion fee?

How many listings have you done in the last two weeks to one month?

How many feedback do you have?

What prices are you asking for your items?

How long have you been an eBay member?

All those elements could well have an inpact on what fees you pay or don't pay.

eBay / Nice "Feedback" from an eBay Buyer
« on: September 09, 2013, 06:48:16 PM »
This fellow gave me a nice feedback for an item I sold him, but better than that, he sent me this email message which of course is longer than eBay will allow for regular feedback.

*****

The ****** arrived today. Your packing is definitely nuclear grade and came through unscathed. Plus, while it is hard to argue with a photo, the **** are perfect just as described. And, made in USA!!

My 9 year old Western Star is currently being repainted and will proudly wear these ***** when I roll on my 1st trip after Labor Day.

Thank you for making them available and for being more than fair with the pricing.

I am very happy right now.
Will leave "glowing" feedback!!

Thanks, again.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Partners
« on: September 09, 2013, 05:41:26 PM »

Just curious have others have dealt with partnerships or going it alone.

I've never had a partner in buying lockers and all the partnerships I have seen over 10 years (maybe half a dozen) have ended badly. One instance was as you described. One fellow was meticulous and spent a lot of time looking at stuff to put on eBay while the other just wanted to "move the crap" out as he said and go for the faster dollar. They didn't last. Even those who seem to be more alike find that over time something goes awry.
