Craigslist / Re: Any successful Craigslist sells?

No reply from the original poster in the weeks since he first posted. Guess he is busy taking calls on his cList items.

Anyway, you are welcome for the input you have received from people who have had a variety of experiences with cList.

You don't have to buy anything and no credit card is required.

When you say "you don't have to buy anything" I am confused.  Let's say I find a "gizmo" I am interested in and it has a "price" of 9,500 units (or whatever they call them).  If I only have the 500 free units they give me on sign-up, how do I get more units to buy that item at 9,500?

Stories about Storage Auctions / Barbies in Storage Lockers
« on: July 05, 2013, 09:48:17 AM »
Many of us have found new Barbies in boxes and have done well with them at the flea market or on eBay, but future locker buyers can expect to find a NEW type of Barbie doll in liened units...it will take a while, but they will be there.

A cracker is still a cracker.

For those who would respond that the the words for other ethnic groups (kike, spic, beaner, wop, etc) don't get the media play that those who use the "N" word would get seem to have forgotten that blacks in this country (in the past) were brought over in chains for over a hundred years before the civil war began and therefore the other groups (though often mistreated in American history) haven't suffered the indignities that black Americans suffered  ..... in the past.

Today, slavery and sexual slavery still exists in the larger world community. Man's inhumanity to other humans is unbelievable. War lords in Africa and other nations are responsible for indignities we could never imagine in the U.S.A.

I talked yesterday with Ryan D. who used to work for John C. here in central California. Leota and a couple of other Californians will know who I mean.

He starts a new job with Dotson in mid-July, 2013 and was pretty happy that Dotson had called HIM and offered him the job. Ryan worked for his former boss (who is a member here and posted 1 time) for 18 years. I noted before in this forum that I wouldn't have lasted 18 minutes with that jerk. Of the four major auctioneers in my area he has the worst reputation for being a total jerk followed only by one of the auctioneers who works for another company based in southern California..again, area locals probably know to whom I am referring.

Anyway, Ryan will be a good source over time for stories coming out of the Dotson camp.

Who are these deranged people?

I guess they are people who like the "penny auction" approach. I took a quick look and saw an x-box game at 9,950 which was my first clue, then popups starting offering a "free" 500 bidding units....what does that tell you about the rest of the trading units you would need to actually buy something.

Several years ago when penny auctions caught my eye (for 30 seconds) I discovered that items you would normally get for "x" dollars anywhere else were commanding "x +y+z" dollars at the penny auctions.  Any time you're dealing with "funny money" you need to watch out.

This group of three stories goes back to Feb of 2012, but it brings together three verified stories of dead body findings.

Each post in the attached link also contains links to the actual newspaper stories about the 3 bodies.

I doubt anyone on the forum has actually found a dead human body (what are the odds?) but most of us have heard the stories....now you can READ three of them.

I would, but I don't want the guys from Storage Battles coming on the forum claiming I stole their precious designation.   ;D

I'm pretty sure they're busy with other things and have given up on any p***ing match with you.

After all "the future of storage auction buying" is big biz.

Nowadays, you can buy any endorsement you need.

You could always send them a $100 gift card.  ;D

This has been going on for several months and I have never really looked closely before, but now that I have I see that there is a fair amount of lag time for the little reporting tasks these messages perform.

I am on the website often enough that just looking at "recent posts" at the bottom of the main page works for me, and I can't help but feel that even for those who only drop in once every month or two the black message don't stand much of a chance....they go by quickly.

Maybe take them out. Distracting if nothing else and may free up bandwidth, just be one less distraction or whatever.

I never click o that share tab on the left side of the screen either, but maybe some people do.

What?  This thread up for about two days and NO RESPONSE from the author of "the future of storage auction selling"?

Where's the analysis? Where's the rationale for such a decision? Inquiring online storage locker buyers want to know !

Are these people STUPID or what?  One guy was found wearing a shoulder holster with a fully loaded magazine in his pistol.  Some people said "I fogot it was there."

The shear number of these clowns is amazing. Story from the Associated Press with lots of statistics. One person had MULTIPLE weapons on him including one inside a boot he was wearing.

Many of us have seen this happen and a few may even have been victims of a "setup" locker...one which has been put together by a seller or even a facility.

Here's an apparently well-documented story about one of those lockers and the final outcome for the bidder who paid $9,500 for the locker even though it looked like it was worth maybe a few hundred.
