I spoke with the original auctioneer and he said this is only a one time thing from what they told him. They are having cameras and all that at this facility that day. I can't wait to see what is in the units since most of the time it's pretty much garbage. All kinds of stories about this particular facility and their owners and the fact that they are power sellers on eBay.  LOL So I am thinking it might be a little bit staged and seeded.   :D

Came across this little shocker (for us at least) while looking at Estate sales. Was surprised when I saw that Armor Storage was going through Estate Sales, but even more when I saw who the auctioneer will now be. estatesales.net/estate-sales/502302.aspx ..Wasn't sure where to post this  :-[

Yea, I can understand that but they have a local paper. From what the scuttlebutt is...they have been doing this for some time and I just was wondering if it was legal or not. Thanks

lol Cobia, you can call me Mrs. Leota Yo-Yo . :-) We are vets but tired of the high prices and garbage units around most areas. We ventured into a few more things and plan to be back when we see something that interests us :-)

I recently had a yard sale and while talking with a young girl told her we do storage auctions. She yelped out, "Oh my friend does that too, he just bought 8 units out in Arboga!" (that's a small community outside Yuba City California. Anyway, I know for a fact the facility did not post and has never posted since we moved back a year ago in the local newspaper. I had a feeling some didn't bother with that anyway and probably sold to their good ol' boys around here but that confirmed it. I thought by law they were supposed to list the lien but I guess in California it's not that way? Any thoughts? We have quit the auctions for a while since we were at good money after bad products. We'll get into it a little later on but most likely not too soon. :-)

I really hate douche bags that do that.
So do I!! You just wanna smack em upside the head with a 2x4!  :-\

Has anyone dealt with Storage Battles online? I have tried twice for local auctions and the first time I couldn't get in to bid after I had been outbid. Today I bid, got outbid came back in to bid the last minute or so and all of a sudden my account wasn't updated?? This seems to be pretty crooked to me. How can it be good one minute and not the next? I have emailed them to tell me exactly what is missing as I cannot find anything wrong. I also asked that they send me a link to where I am to go to "update". They never returned my email from the auction question a month or so ago. It'll be interesting to see if they do this time. Oh well, just needed to vent a little...If they are crooked I sure don't want to waste my time with them and would love to blog about it at the same time. :-)

Leota,
Thanks for looking out. Brentwood is surprising, were they Bidding or watching?
They seem to be there to bid but didn't have much going on. Mostly junk units.

Did anyone in Central California (or elsewhere) go to the Rancho Cordova 72 Vault Auction on 4-27-2013 Saturday? If so, how was it and did you get anything good? Heard there will be another one in Roseville in a few weeks but not as many vaults.

Hot Dang! I just sold a 27 inch tube television for $20.

Also, I just sold a full size mattress with a gigantic pee stain for $80.

Thought I would get stuck with this stuff but it never ceases to amaze me what people will buy.

Have you sold any hard to sell merchandise lately?
The surprising and funniest thing we ever sold was a S.F. 49r's large bath towel. By itself if isn't strange but the story goes: The towel was purchased over 10 years ago, was used quite often and was faded. We had fragile items to take to an auction house so we wrapped them in this towel, (right before the Superbowl by the way). Anyway, we figured it would get tossed once the items were removed but, we were shocked that it actually came out for the auctioneer. We got 17.50 for it and couldn't believe it! We were thrilled of course and kept laughing and looking shocked as the bids got higher.   ;D

Leota - how much did the computer parts / electronics go for?  I'm curious as I recycle that stuff for decent money.  Woudl love to find a unit like that.  I've only had 1 unit with lots of computer stuff and I only took it to $300.  Was a large unit with lots of computers, looked like a laptop, but 1000s of pirated CDs.  Had a DVD burner tower so he could burn 8 movies at a time.

The smallest 10x10 went for about 60.00 and I didn't stay around for the bigger 10x15? unit, but it was full with shelves.

Went to two auctions today with possibilities. There were four units with two owners owning two each of the units <makes sense to me>  Anyway, first went for 1500.00 and the next 700.00 for it's partner unit to the same regular. The other two went for cheap since it was broken down parted computers and electronics.  The next location had 5 units with a couple having good items. The good ones went for way too much 1k + etc. Over heard one person tell another regular that the Turkish guy that bought the high priced units was po'd because before they started posting their auction notices on the paid lists he got 5 units for 5.00 each before and that other times he would get them cheap with only maybe 5 or so people would even show up since it wasn't a known place. I was wondering why he had such a sour-puss and that explained it all.  :P  "There's always tomorrow and tomorrow" as I keep saying for more auctions.

You know the units and auctions are bad when you have an auctioneer talk to you about all the garbage they are seeing. It's been few and far between for decent lockers and once they show up the bidding is crazy. I understand it though with regulars since they are trying to stock their shelves at the thrift stores. But I hope it starts turning around soon so more lockers are big, clean, neat and packed!! Is that wishing for too much? I think not!  ;).

Finally, do you know of any other auctioneer who had his car "keyed" by a disgruntled auction buyer?  Neither does John C.
Hmmm, hadn't heard that one but stuff happens out there. Amazing what happens to stuff when they upset crazy auction buyers. You just never know who you might be talking with. Scary at times...hahaha
