Brandi has nice body but her assets end there.  She's gold-digging trash, in my opinion.  Do you ever notice that she sits on her ass, talking smack about what a bad locker Jarred bought, until he finds something potentially valuable?  Then she launches her ass out of her seat and starts man-handling the item.

I used to have a thing for Danielle from Pickers but I'm sick of her and the guys now.  Nobody wants to watch those two dimwits in their van being "funny".  Get to the pick and start finding cool sh!t!  That's why I watch the show.  Not the idiotic banter between Mike and Frank.

So, neither of the choices do anything for me.  If I had to choose, I'd go with Danielle.  She's far less annoying than Brandi.

I went on a 5 facility caravan today and bought my first unit at the 2nd facility.  It didn't have a lot in it.  Couple of file cabinets, huge, cheap stuffed animals, barbells, misc junk.  The bidding started at $5 and I was the third bid at $15.  I won it for $15.  After the last unit of that facility, I took a quick look in the unit.  The finds were in the drawers in one of the file cabinets.  The previous owner must have either owned a business or been a sales rep for a tool outfit.  I found a bunch of catalogs from a tool company.  The file cabinets were mostly full of his personal/business financial paperwork.

But, in the backs of the file cabinet drawers, I found a bunch of old baseballs.  One is signed by Larry Doby, others the sigs are tough to make out so they probably aren't worth much.  One is in a clear plastic holder but I can't make out the signature (messy, not fading).  I'll take them all in to a sports memorabilia shop to have them appraised.

Other than that, I found some high quality concrete drill bits, some knives, miscellaneous small tools, a letter jacket and letter sweater from 1964, some miscellaneous office supplies, stack of decade-old Playboys, and a whole pile of stuff that I'm going to donate to Salvation Army or find a dumpster somewhere.

Overall, it was fun to finally score a unit, dig through the boxes and bags, and find what could be some money-making baseballs.  It was well worth the $15 I spent on it.

I didn't hear back from the woman from the Miniature Guild.

I had a few interested people but no firm bites until yesterday.  A woman emailed me off my craigslist ad and wanted to see more photos.  I emailed her about 15 photos.  She loved it and offered $250 (I was asking $300).  I counter-offered $275 and she agreed.  So, fingers crossed, I'm meeting her tomorrow and she'll have a really cool dollhouse and I'll have $275 in my pocket.

Despite a decent profit, I will think twice before buying any dollhouse again.  It's a niche market and finding a buyer for this one took 6 months.

As a noobie, I have a question for the seasoned veterans.  How many lockers did you look at, maybe bid on, but lost, before you scored your first locker?

I have seen about 25 lockers opened.  I've bid on about 8 of them.  I've come in runner-up about 4 times.  I've yet to win a locker.  I'm not stressing about it.  I'm waiting for the right locker and not getting swept up in the frenzy to buy a locker.  No sense over-paying for a locker, just to say I bought one, right?

I saw one today that has me regretting my decision to pass.  This locker looked like it hadn't been opened since the late 90s.  There was an inch of dust covering everything.  Lots of dust-covered boxes but a whole bunch of furniture that was destined for a dump, somewhere.  I wasn't sure I wanted to deal with the furniture so I passed on the unit.  Sure would have liked to dig through those dusty boxes but oh well.

Google doll house museums/collectors in your area and see if they might be interested.  Find an 'expert' in them, and take a chance and take it to them to see if they'll 'appraise it'.
   Reason I recommend that?  If they're as addicted as some collectors (read, all of us)l, there's a chance they may buy it from you on the spot for more money.
   If not that, contact some specialty auctioneers and see what they recommend.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I contacted the local guild who specializes in dollhouses and miniatures.  The interesting part is, one woman responded telling me that, if I expect to make a profit, I will be disappointed".  First off, she doesn't know what I paid for the dollhouse.  Secondly, she doesn't know what I'll accept for the dollhouse.  How does she know that I'll be disappointed?  I told her as much and haven't heard back.

I think I heard this on Storage Wars but the saying went something like, "Sometimes, walking away without a locker is the best buy of the day."  I think it's very true.

Congrats on not getting caught up in the nonsense.

I would be VERY disappointed if I can only get $100 out of this thing.  Since I posted this, I have discovered that it's a handmade dollhouse.  The attention to detail is incredible, to be honest.  Everything is wood, including the shake roof.  This must have taken hundreds of hours to build.  It's a large house that measures 3 feet x 3 feet.

I put it on craigslist a week ago and, unfortunately, have not had a bite yet.  I didn't put a price on it, in my ad.  I asked for offers.  A woman who stopped by my garage sale said that similar houses have gone for over a grand.  I don't know if her estimate has any merit.  I paid $175 for it, on an online auction.  I'd be happy with $300.  But, at this point, I may only break even on it.  Lesson learned, I guess.  I know the furniture alone, if piece parted out, is worth over $200.  But, who has the time to go through that nonsense.

I'm hoping to sell it soon and be rid of the thing.  It takes up a lot of room in my garage.

People have been known to store a million dollar Stradivarius in a storage locker.
