Did they pull stuff out of the lockers already or something.  Many of those pictures just seem staged to me.  I see only 1 bed and that in plastic wrap.  Even from my limited expirence I see a box spring / matress in about 33% of the units I've seen.  Those all look to be some super nice units compared to what I'm seeing.

Hot dam - I'd keep all of those weapons after I did a quick background check on them via the sheriffs office.  Those will fetch you some nice money.  You easily cleared your cost and then some on this unit.  I'll be like rugie and dreaming about such finds tonight.  Specially since have a 2 facility caravan in morning....that I can't make but 1 due to work.

Thank you very much for all the pics and story.

Love your disclaimer --- all the shows need it.

I love this blog - is one of the ones I frequent every day to see if there has been an update.

@storagetreasure.com -- I've been on that site even before I found this place.  Have a total of 1 auction listed for my area out of 6 that I know of the first week of sept.  Listings for my area is so/so.

As for San Antonio - I could see 1500 locations in and around the area.  With the large military presence, home base for a number of large companies, etc. there are a ton of people and thus need.  If it's like Atlanta then you have to do a search for not just Atlanta but all the small towns, counties, etc. that make up the larger area known as Atlanta.

For large metros like Chicago, Atlanta, NYC, DC, Dallas, etc. I could see finding and paying for a service.  If you do this as a hobby you spend the money to save time.  If your doing auctions as a living then I'd use my time to save me the money.

Dangit man - now I'm starting to get hopefull for you.  About ready to call the locksmith guy myself and ask him why can't he come earlier.

You just might have a major score here of sex toys and guns  :o
Now, you just need to find the drugs and cash in another box.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: local auction company BUSTED!!

Well some of the companies reserve that right or the right to refuse a bid.  I've not been to one yet that actually placed or bid or refused a bid but it's in the paper just in case.  I'm fine if they are upfront about it.  If in the middle of the bidding they do that or don't let you know then I'm out of there.

I use a little spotlight that can charge at home or in the car.  Is like 4k+ lumes or something if I remember correct.  It isn't heavy and last a few hours before need to recharge it again.  May have to look for something smaller but it was cheap so picked it up.

Learned my lesson there. Wound up paying 500 for 8 plastic tubs full of holloween ****.

Ouch - for 8 tubs I'd of maxed out at $100.  I like to gamble but I'm a cheap gambler  ;D

Talking with a few of the guys from my first caravan that purchased the under $100 lockers they all think they will come out ahead.  So even the really junk lockers are doing well right now with hidden goodies.

Have two auctions tuesday that going to send father to and one wednesday that I can hit at lunch.  After that things go silent till after Labor Day.  Or I've missed more then a few auction post in the paper or something.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Bed Bugs ???

Well if you live in the south or places like texas / arizona just put everything in a small metal shed and the temp will quickly climb.

I've not heard anyone find bed bugs yet.  All the other vermin are common, specially spiders in my area.  I worry more about getting bitten by a black widow or a brown more then other bugs.  That and the little black scorpions.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Getting attached to items

Well like Millertime said - if this is a second income stream / hobby keeping stuff for yourself is fine.  In fact most of what I'm looking for initially in units is for myself or to support other interest.  So I see nothing wrong keeping a game or such and entertaining yourself.  Heck during the slow time a the yard sale or market it can help pass the time.

If this is your main line of income / buisness then IMO you sale everything to max profit.  Or keep it but sale something else to make up the difference.

Is all a judgement call.

Sports Collection -- have baseball and racing cards / other items from 90s - 2000.  Some of the cards I know are crap as mass producted but others, including promo, autograph cards not gotten a decent offer yet.

Most everything else I've been able to sale or not interested in selling it.

Those are the type of units I'm looking for.  I'll bid on a furniture unit but mostly get outbid as I set my max low.  I have some large barn/sheds but unless moved the furniture quick it would quickly get dusty and bugs/rats if in there for a few weeks.  So I'm looking for mostly tools, HAM radio, sports type units.  Also, units like you describe that I call my "gamble" units.

You going to the same auction that has the 4 wheeler and the scooter listed?  I figure that one is going to be packed and go for some insane prices.  Started to hit columbia, SC this morning but both kids had sports stuff so missed out.  If you keep finding such nice units I'm going to have to make the drive to Atlanta :)

gratz man - that is a nice score.

Went to the flea market today just to see if could score some coins and such.  Headed over to the one that many of the regulars sale at.  Stopped and talked with one of them that was there.  He purchased one of the $10 units.  Said he had 1 haul of trash, and showed me the table with everything else.  Looked like someone that use to own or worked on trailers.  Had plumbing parts, a welding mask, metal straps, a pair of jack stands, etc.  For $10 he should make his money quickly.

Also found out one of the $25 lockers paid out well.  The regular that snatched that one, found a .25 pistol in it.  Which if clean I'm sure he can sale for $75 - $100 depending on the brand.

The $360 musical instrument locker (that I got outbid on) sounds like a bust.  Both the guitar and the violin were broken and in bad shape.  Not sure about the flute/claronet but sounds like he is going to loose on that one.
