The Lounge / Why does everyone hate Mondays so much ?
« on: March 22, 2013, 02:03:23 PM »
That's a day when (personally) I get a lot done.  The Saturday flea is over (hopefully a money maker), Sunday is a day off (mostly for hiking...after shopping a couple of flea markets !) so Monday is a fresh start for me.

But a lot of  people don't like Mondays....maybe because they don't like their jobs...that's MY guess.

Well then, feel free to post by all means.

My going rate for participating on any new forum is a $100 gift card (per month of participation, payable in advance). ;D

Well, on second thought, maybe not....I'm trying to keep a cool vibe going on there.

I don't think there will be any problem keeping it "cool".

The Lounge / I PREDICT......

....I will not win the POWERBALL lottery this weekend!

Actually, Californians can't participate (in state) until April 8, 2013 when the state jumps on the bandwagon.
Funny, how "the numbers" used to be an illegal enterprise run by the mob and until states got involved !

ANYWAY, take a look at the link below on the ODDS of winning the Powerball lottery; not only are the huge (over 175 million to one) but the link shows 11 things that are more likely to happen to you than winning the big prize.

I bought the forum to get to post what I want here.  ;)

Well, you can certainly do that on the forum associated with your new online storage auction sales website. And you won't get any flack from me; I reserve that option for THIS website where the cantankerous clientel is already well established. Yes, younger members will have to look up the definition of cantankerous.

Isn't a King bigger than a Prince?

Only in the area that counts !  ;D

I don't know about "bigger" doofus, but Movieman is definitely King Doofus. Storme is only the Prince Doofus & has to wait until Movieman retires from the forum to become King Doofus.  :)

Then again, NOBODY can overthrow the retired Emperor Doofus of the Forum, Mr. Andersen!  ;)

Hey, I resemble that remark !

You are showing your "age" here Cobia....only an oldtimer member would even REMEMBER Andersen. I guess he is still working on his million dollar investment in a storage facility/thrift store combination.

I have it set to run for 30 days.

FWIW MovieMan, as I'm typing this message the vote count is at 7, beating this forum's all time poll vote count record of 6! :D

Yep, 30 days shows at the bottom of the poll area....but you can see why I voted for an EARLY ending!  Over the next week or so it will probably get the most votes it will get, but I'm sure it will be rediscovered over the 30 days too.

As to the count of 7 votes.....THAT is notable and says a lot about what people will vote for here...it's like watching a train wreck..you can't look away.

I vote we stop the count now (3/21/2013, 5:30 Pacific) while the count from the top is 1, 3, 1, 0, 1   !

What did the auction in question sell for?  I looked at it about 3 hours after it ended I think and the price spot was empty. What's up with that? I guess they think anyone who is REALLY interested will be watching as the clock ticks down.

POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL, POLL!

Go ahead and start one Alloro...I can take the heat should it come to that !  ;D (and you do realize that only 6 to 10 people would actually vote. Check out the latest poll started by Travis. Several comments were made but as far as I can tell no one has actually voted.

When will your new site be up? I'm surprised my state has over 70 online auction. I guess it's all digital now a days. Guess we Americas love to be lazy a d use Internet for everything

Here is the link to Travis' new endeavor.  Any auctions you see there on 3/21/2013 are simply "samples". There are no auctions listed as yet.

http://virtualstorageauction.com/

There is also a button there for going to a forum associated with that site. No takers yet. It will take a while for that site to get going given its content.

What's it Worth?? / Re: Louis Vuitton Wallets
« on: March 21, 2013, 08:03:53 AM »
I saw a Coach purse at our local thrift store a couple of weeks ago. They were asking $20.

I bet you couldn't get that $20 out of your billfold fast enough!

I once had a Rolex which I knew was a fake. At the flea market I was selling it for $25. Two incidents happened.

After several people had looked at it over a few hour period a clean-cut guy came up and asked to look at it. When he asked "how much?" and I told him he said "thanks" and left.  A few minutes later the vendor in the next booth came over and said "You know that was an undercover cop right?"

Well, I didn't know but I assumed the guy knew what he was talking about and my thought was if it was true the cop might have heard from some of the other lookers that I had a "Rolex" for sale and was checking to see what I was selling if for.

If I had been asking $400 or something higher they might have been more concerned, but asking $25?  Of course it STILL would have been selling a counterfeit.

Anyway, the 2nd incident was a scruffy looking guy who tried to get me down to $20 !  My thought on that one was he wanted to resell it to someone for $100 and wanted to maximize his profit.

Fakes...more trouble than they're worth.

Then when a Forum Troll takes a big bite of the Bait, it is hilarious!

Well, you got the last part right anyway!

It's a well-known fact (to the 10 regular posters on this forum) that StorMe and I have no special regard for each
other other than each of us thinks the other is a doofus of the highest order.

See the thread below where I called him out of "hiding" when only TWO of us were signed on in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 21, 2013.

The link he posted about troll identifiers forgot to mention #16...."Trolls often wear wife-beater shirts".
