1 pm the 25th of March...

At McCarren airport in Lost Wages on the way home to Central California.....came away with a good experience (not auction related) but will be good to get home (as usual after any trip). Auctions next week...doubt anything will have changed in the 6 days or so I was gone. Seems the usual biz here in the forums too!

Thanks for the link.

Here is a cut and paste from that site which I also found interesting.

It has came to my attention that there are new web companies taking my information and selling my auction information to "members". I do not authorize any of this abuse of my information. This information is listed here for my customers use and not for any other reason.  All information, rules, address's, etc. listed here is the facts of my auction and please disregard any information that you aquire from other websites.

For the companies using my info, it will not be tolerated and I'm in the process of contacting officials of the abuse, specially the companies selling my information. Please remove my info from your site immediately.

I was wondering where you went!  You didn't check out any auctions why you were there?

Nope, even if the wife wasn't with me, I don't think I would have....needed a real vacation. Did see plenty of them (facilities, not auctions) while driving to hikes though. Storage One is the outfit that has the big deal a couple of times a year....the Storage Warriors guys went to those (and others I think).

Also saw the storefront for Pawn Stars between the end of the strip and the downtown area...right on Las Vegas Blvd. I would have stopped in there if I had been alone just to see if the main guys were behind the counter.

Instead in a rare moment on my own I went to a rock shop in LV as rockhounding is one of my hobbies. It is the only store in LV so they have a lock there. There is a small rock shop in Boulder City near Hoover damn. Talked to the owner there and compared notes on that biz. She has made it 10 years. Rock shops are on their way out.

I've been in Las Vegas this week (20 to 25) and think it may be my last trip here...maybe one more...maybe not.

Came to see Celine Dion at Caesar's Palace and that was the highlight of the trip. Went on three separate hikes outside the city; 2 near Hoover Dam (a new arch bridge there was fun too) and 1 hike at Valley of Fire, red rocks poked up out of a tan and gray desert. Red Rock Canyon (a favorite place) doesn't open until April.

Then hiked the canyons of the Strip....never walked through so many Casinos in my life on the way to see their featured attractions. Venetian has gondolas running indoors among pricey shops. Mirage used to have the white tiger acts until one of the guys was attacked. In years past their tiger and dolphin attraction was free, but now they charge $15 to walk in the smallish area.

Had a $25 token from an off-strip casino but didn't have the energy to get there. Said no cash value on token, so guess it was good for $25 of play.

On TV, 3 mayoral candidates pushing themselves with "I'll bring Las Vegas back to it's former glory". Traffic like you wouldn't believe and hawkers pushing clubs, etc. and a tv story that said average tourist spends $245 on a 4 day stay. That must be after the plane, car rental and hotels !

Be good to get back to going to auctions next week.

I have a friend who visited Florida for a couple of weeks and he told me about two auctions he went to.

These were in Gulfport. The first one was not a chain but rather a small independent. He didn't say the name.
There a 10 x 20 came up and looked good with two scuba tanks, a speargun showing as well as a good lookig frig and boxes. The auctioneer said the opening bid would be $200. There were 5 people there including my friend and no one bid so it was closed up. That one would have gone for $700 or more here in central CA.

The next one was a 10 x 30 and the auctioneer said the opening bid on that would be $300. One guy did that and got it. It had large wood tools (table, saw etc) and quantity of woods. That one would have gone high in CA too.

Then he went to Public Storage auctions and the crowd and prices were high. Just goes to show IF, repeat IF, you can find those small spots the odds go way up. ;D

Jose: just start a new message. Type something. Don't fiddle with the smileys.

If you are reading this message, just click on the reply button toward the bottom; you might have to scroll down on the right to see that. That will put you into a new blank message box.
Don't try to modify any of your old messages.

OK Jose, we're starting to worry about you. If you are being held hostage and can't say anything, just
put up a smiley sticking out his tongue. Do that and we'll know to send the storage cops.

Otherwise, I think communications is going to stop....the mime routine only works for so long.

I'm surprised not many auctions in CA over the next 2 weeks?  I think I have close to 40 on my calender for that timeframe and that does not include the low hanging fruit....that is JUST legal notices and independents

Well, there are a lot sure...but I'm not interested in driving very far and I don't NEED to, so....ok to take a break too. I'll have some news in a few days that will explain more.

NOW....we need Movieman to get off the computer and bump that lockers bought number up before March ends....haha

Probably not going to happen....not many auctions in my area in the next two weeks. Might have to buy 8 in April !

AND....remember a couple of days ago when you were fed up ? !  What a difference a day makes in this biz.

You're welcome and congrats on the good buy !  Looking forward to seeing a few pics.
I've had HONs before and they're good.

You must have a big place to store them and if I had them I think Craigslist would be my first stop, but maybe in your city you could even do an eBay for local pickup.

Good job !
