Flea Markets / Re: flea market noob
« on: August 31, 2011, 05:50:29 PM »
So I had to learn a hard lesson in flea markets today even though I only made 47 dollars it seems I need to lower my prices even more. They seemed fair but I need to move items faster so I guess lowering items even more is the best thing. I guess once I make my money back its time to almost give things away for cheaper than I want but at least I would be making money that way. But the good news it is that it was anothet lesson learned for the new guy and I did make enough profit to get another lkr this weekend just in time for labor day flea markets next week.

Like the saying goes learn from your mistakes and dont make the same one twice. To all of thosr flea markets newbies its a humongus garage sale keep prices low and move items fast plus find a good spot to sell.

Calm down the only person you got to worry about stealing your lkrs,around here is me since were from the same area hehe.

The crowds ive seen around here have been 20ish only a couple that have had less than 10. Even in the big areas not many. Though here in mi. people dont have much money or maybe I just get lucky with less people good lkrs and cheap units idk. Got 4 auctions in the next 5days will keep yall posted on the good bad the dumb and the retarded.

@craiglstauction
Most the flea markets around here are well publicized as they been around for a long while and all outdoors for the fact that I live out in the country thats how we do things here.

@ rulesforrebels
Basicaly what your saying is go cheaper that what I want to? Just keep trying to double my money on each unit and if I get more than great if not then I just doubled my money, is that what your trying to say. Sell cheap and fast. Also you mentioned ebay. I havent gotten much to sell even for really cheap. I will be reposting my items on there for half of what there worth just to unload. CL is hard since I live far from people but I still have some luck. But tomorrow I will lower prices to get rid of items to make room for my weekend inventory for labor day flea market in which uf I dont get there by noon the day prior I wont get a decent spot.

I started out with 180 dollars to buy my first unit. I have since bought 2 units and havent spent a dime of that money on any supplies or things I need. Ive had everything I needed from the military like tarps ratchet,straps, locks. All the money I get from the govt for disability get put into paying off bills or savings. As of right now all my gas money food everything comes from the units. Though not much money profit wise yet its well worth it.

Well all the flea markets around here are 5 or 10 dollars. But I found out a bit ago that the closest market people go just to talk. Lots of foot traffic just not many buyers. But going to another one a few miles further away,then the other that gets tuns of people and even more buyers. So i'll just see what happens tomorrow morning

I took a truck load with the ext cab full and also my dads jeep cherokee full. There were a lot of lookers mostly female but there husbands would talk them out of buying the items. I am selling below what its worth and what I would like for it. If I can get enough money/profit im going to buy my biggest fullest locker for labor day monday at the market but I guess I will lower prices more since I need to make room for more stock.

So out of curiousity what is the key to selling at a flea market? I went to one today sold 13 dollars worth of auction items but after table rent and food and gas I actually lost money. Any tips would be most welcome from all you pros.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Getting attached to items
« on: August 28, 2011, 08:31:08 PM »
Thats the thing. I hardly ever buy expensive items like that. I either just wait for the holidays or deal without. But yeah I see where your commin from jrossjr. I kept I think 15 dvds the game system and pocket recorder. Just things ive wanted for a while. Gave my dad a full set of nice plates and a couple smaller things as payment for helping as was his idea. So for 30 dollars the things kept were nothing compared to the profit I can still make

Items for me is a craftsman tool box full of tools. Keep getting offers at least 100 below asking price also fluke mutimeter... Sorry cant think of a third.

New to Storage Auctions? / Getting attached to items
« on: August 28, 2011, 07:10:24 PM »
Ok so I been reading other peoples post about how they find items and keep them instead of selling them. Well I kinda got attached to my nintendo dsi I found in a unit. I know I can get at least a hundred for it on ebay. Is it smart to keep it even though it would be a profit loss and since its really fun tp play and search the web on or should I just not get attached to items worth alot of money?

Thanks to whoever answers tonight. But flea market in the morning have to be there before4to get a decent spot. Start selling at first light.

You know im one of thosr newbies that bid on alot of cheaper lkrs. I guess im a smart newb but from what ive seen on these forums theres a couple smart newbs in here that dont drop there whole payroll thinkin every lkr is full of gold bricks and jewels beyond imagining.  Now we all know that theres lkrs out there that have gold and diamonds and many other jewels worth a pretty penny as we heard and seen from these forums. The way I see it is the cheaper lkrs are going to have all the more better items the ones newbs run up arent going to have much profit. Now ive bought 2 cheap lkrs spent a total of 190 and have tuns of great items and have a possibility of making at least 3-4times my money back on the first unit and around 10-15 times my money on the second unit.

All in all I guess its just what you know about business how to buy learning to sell and not thinking that every unit is gold and running yourself out of the business before you even start.

Thats just my 2cents worth this morning. More to come later when someone wants lol

@craigslstauction
Me and acman arent to far from each other in michigan and its seeming we are going unto each others stomping grounds hehe.

@ acman
I went to my first auction down south of 8mile on telegraph I think it was and it was a caravan auction. Lot of nice units couple bad in my opinion but it was run by wayne blair auction company. Only brought in about 20 bidders total so prices werent high but still above my price. So far ive found that if you stay to the outskirts of the cities or in small towns your bound to get better lkrs lower prices. I will keep you updated on the lkrs prices and the types of units around here. Just dont steal the lkrs I want lol.

No this was in caro. Glad to know about almont though I almost went. But I figured I would do garage sales but first stopped by this auction.

 The umit that went for 325 had vintage coke bottles in the metal case also a 700 dollar bow washer dryer loveseat and lots of military gear including a kevlar and many other awesome items. Follow me to auctions I seem to find the good ones. Just waiting for the fifth theres one in brown city with about 10 units. Looks promising so far also one in marlette on the first has a motorcycle guns 4 wheeler maybe more.

Went to an auction this morning where only 4 units were up for bid. The units werent to bad. The favility manager took most tjings out of the unit and you could look in boxs but not take anying out and walk in the units but not move anything around. Well prices weremt to bad either the 2 full units went for 450 and 325 both awesome units. The unit I got had some christmas items an old tv that worked and some misc boxes I got the unit for 30 bucks. Started going through it found some playstation 2 games some nitendo ds games dvds cpu games and nitendo gamecube games. Well in this one junk lookin nox full of hangers I started pullin stuff out and found a playstation 2 with 3 controllers game saving cards a nitendo ds with a couple more games camera cell phone pocket voice recorder. In the christmas boxs found some collectable ornaments a couple light uphouses tuns of stockings. Also got a couple vintage leather jackets. All in all for 30 bucks I can easily make at least 300 on the game systems games dvds and who knows on the rest. So sevond unit I got in 2 weeks is another big score. Ebay here I come.

Craftsman toolbox mostly craftsman tools impact gun with impact sockets some specialty tools. I figured it new to be between 700-900 dollars and only asking 250 now completely cleaned up lookin like new box could easily go for 150 itself. Tools easily get another 100 just for craftsman and another 150 for the rest in a perfevt world hehe. But will put a few hours into it and see how it goes.
