Garage Sales / Re: Rummage sale pricing<question>
« on: July 03, 2012, 01:59:01 PM »
Well I like things priced. Husband does not.  ::)

But after much convincing on my part he priced stuff (well I did). Sold it after being at 4 different sells.

So tag it.  IMO.  The nice thing that everyone is going to look at can be left untagged they will ask.

But sense this is for charity and such,  working with a lot of donations pricing may be to over well-ming depending on the quantity of goods.

Could meet in the middle and have tables everything on this table $1.00, next $4.00. If you have the man power to man the tables. Or just color code items.  Pink tag .50.

And if someone is willing to pay $20 for the pennies let them. A fool and there money are soon parted.  :-X

Did you tell them what the pennies were worth and why ?

"People just don't know what thing are worth or the art of pricing for negotiation."

Why it is a rummage sell, and why we pick them.  ;)  You can add your expertise to help the charity make more money.

Glad you cleaned up some clutter for a good cause.

I added some glue, formaldehyde, and other misc. items to the fire pit today. (falla-particalboard TV stand).   ;D

Good luck let us know how it turns out.

Lol money - I done told her I may either have to start bidding against her or I'll just hand over my wallet and let her spend my money.......like she don't already.

If she keeps this up I'm going to start charging her for gas, dump fees, and selling fees.  Her reply was "well you were already here/doing that".

You forgot labor. LOL   Love her reply.    ;D

Like reading your post about you and her. Nice to see a kid that wants to spend time with dear old DAD.  ;)

At least she is making money and not spending it.  :D

Yeah I hope we can unload some stuff, but it maybe really slow until after August  ::)

Hey Craig that is great.

What we had for a little while. Think we can go for it again. The thrift has gotten somethings worked out so we can once again have a once a month yard sale.

After our first one there we did more back and forth business. So it is great everybody makes money.

Think we are going to try this coming Saturday.  Have all the low end stuff and just need to get rid of it.

I have also been doing some much needed clean out. Hoping the life things are getting sorted out and can get back into the game sooooooon.  But I do realize these are tough times selling in our area this time of year, but will give it a shot.

Glad you have hooked up with a thrift it sure does help having that retail outlet.

From the sound of how well your daughter is doing you might want to get a contract with her, :LOL

Well the list for snakes is long... Cotton mouth, Diamond back, Pygmy rattler, Coral just to name a few.

On the  nonpoisonous to many to list. Except the worst invader of the everglades the beloved (NOT) Burmese Python. Still waiting on those to be outlawed as pets. They can eat a goat, alligators, and small children.

I grew up with snakes so not a real big thing to me except on the poisonous ones. My dad would catch cotton mouth and moccasins every year when we lived in NC.  Kept them in 10 gal fish tanks. He never taught me how to catch the poisonous ones. I was too young.  Not that I would really want too. We lived on a camp and he would go out before the campers came and catch the ones to close to the camp, not sure what he did with them after the summer was over.

We have all kind of fuzzes, and non fuzzes, armadillos, opossums, had otters a few years back in the swamp.

I have found one scorpion in the change return on a pay phone.. That hurt. They are small down here.

The pictures of the Eagles on other thread were in the back yard too.  :P

Can I come live with you?    I don't eat much and promise not to kill you.

Sure come on down not too worried about you killing me. Husband was bitten by an alligator and we ate him for dinner.   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Bought my First locker the other day
« on: July 01, 2012, 07:12:42 AM »

Sounds good to me  Jesterc333.  We bought one for $23.23 most everyone walked away from. Had a fall-partical board table with 6 chairs. Sold for $75 after a quick recover on the chairs using an old sheet. An antique corduroy chair sold for $35 (got priced wrong at the thrift  ::) ). Then some odds and ends made for a nice return per locker.

But as Movieman pointed out when you add in all the expenses, can go in the other direction.

And as Alias said depends on what your situation is when you are at the auction.

We would pass on a locker like that right now no market for the stuff.

We did have a few looks at the next stop because we were loaded. Could see the wheels turning in there heads. Looking at the chairs (metal)..

Also we may have gotten it for $5, but another couple wanted it.

Most noobies are after the hunt of the WOW factor. So they just don't get it when you buy a locker. We bought one that I guy came up to me and said what is in there. He did not realize it was my husband bidding on it. It was also a What you see is what you get. No boxes no trash. Our truck was empty by the time we got home.

So it is what you can get out of it, and how much work you want to put into it.

Welcome aboard and good luck.

Of here are the picks of the swamp.

This before.

This after. It is still rising., but flowing back into the swamp so we are still high and dry.

Hope we don't get another storm anytime soon. We want be so dry.  And the snakes are out. Was working over at the shop were the grass is really thick, only saw the tail end of the business when it cam up out of the grass and over the garbage I was picking up.  I could not see him and he must have not seen me until I got to close.  :o

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Clothes- how does everyone do?
« on: June 25, 2012, 06:15:55 PM »
I seem to do the best with the clothes on here. But lately sells are slow.

Ebay the best for the name brands. For me anyway not a lot of money but more than at a yard sale.

But at a yard sale cheap is best.  I do .50 each on everything but jackets $3.00 and denim $1.00 (did charge a vendor more one time she admitted she was reselling them).

The clothes walk away with little effort.  I know it sounds cheap but the more that walk away with cash in my pocket the better off I am.  ;D.  Also on a selling point at my prices people will look at them.

And on the customer side I usually get paid more for my clothes when people pay they say " Oh that is worth more than that."  Only exception are the ones who are counting their pennies but they usually buy more.

If they don't sell off to the goodwill.

Alias300 wished I could trade for a credit think I would be doing that before trying to sell.  ;)

Haven't tried Plato's Closet yet.  Don't have a lot of high end clothes.

Oh yeah 39shades  less is more. The fewer I have the better I sell.  Hope that helps.

And the really bad garbage ones I bag up in black garbage bags (the ones the clothes were in to begin with   ;) ) and sell as rags for $5 each.

LOL MovieMan . We have a word for that kind of thinking.

BRAIN****ING  (over thinking stuff) which we have to stop ourselves and say enough BRAIN****ING this thing. LOL

Look up procrastination in the dictionary and you will likely see a picture of me as a prime practictioner.

Sure my husband would be right beside you.

@ Cobia my payback for commenting on your dead bird story.

Was I went over to the storage trailer the other day, have not been over there in about two weeks (weather and other commitments) Open the door and the power is off (thrown breaker ??? ). Rotten Freezer that was packed. Had bait in there for blue crab and fishing. Think about the grossest thing I have ever had to clean up. Not sure I will get the smell out.
