General Storage Auction Talk / Re: profiling a locker
« on: October 07, 2014, 11:11:04 AM »
very cool topic, i hadn't seen it yet. By far in my area if you want a deal you go for big. a 5x5 will sell for the same amount as a 10x30 around here. There is work involved of course but i generally pull everything out that i want and hire someone to clear the rest(and keep what they want). if there is a lot of good stuff i'll take what i really like and leave some meat on the bone and resell to someone i know.

That being said, i buy units of all sizes but the best bang for the buck seems to be big lockers because not everyone has the ability to move it all.

lol yah, i wouldnt throw them out because they are old but the funny thing about old is it isnt always worth a whole lot. Definitely worth researching but I put this in the same category as refurbishing a dresser or end table, unless it worth a bunch on the backside it gets sold cheap or sent out to pasture.

65
yah, make money on them if you can. i'd personnally probably throw them out unles they were really old patents

yah, i think it's funny when people are afraid to jump in and buy a unit. hell thats the easy part. finding the right place to sell the right item is key, and making connections. Yesterday I bought a unit but i'm xtra busy right now listing things on ebay and craigslist because i have a lot of stock(but im not gonna let a good unit pass me by) so I took the nice washer and dryer, a bedroom set a, a swimming pool and a few military items out(total worth maybe about $1000) and sold the rest for $100 to another guy. plenty of meat left on the bone for him and not much work for me. oh and i paid $375 for the unit.

yah, no you dont get a car key when you buy a vehicle at a storage auction. but look around there are always tons of keys laying around. If not it doesnt cost that much to get one made.

exactly, you are allowed to sell your items, not post a link so ebay can sell your items

in my area auctions only come around about once every 2 weeks. because i do this full time i am obligated to get any unit that i can sell. I need 10-20 rooms a month to make a good living. I generally take down half the decent rooms.

Online Storage Auctions / Re: My first
« on: September 25, 2014, 10:28:06 PM »
because i do this full time I always target the units that have high dollar items in them. If i can't find any of those(they are hard to find sometimes) and my warehouses are low i gor for a pooper scooper unit to keep me busy(or i go on vacation).
