Sounds like a good day.  Going to try and hit an auction tuesday also but is iffy.

As for totes - you can never have enough.  I never find any "good" totes in units.  I keep getting the beat up totes that are cracked and such on one side.  If you do have a number of them you can sell the totes also at the flea and such.  $5 per tote and they move well in my area.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: iPad for research at remote locations

You may make a convert out of me yet MovieMan.  I've not really gotten into the buy/sale of many things outside of my specialties.  But an Ipad for research at the flea may be something for me to look into also.  About time for me to hit the estate auctions back up.

Lol Cobia - instead of watching Storage Wars go watch the Extreme Coupon people.  Then it's off to dumpster dive, massive amounts of organization, etc.  While those people irk me when I get behind them in line I still respect their drive and dedication.  But this is all for another topic...best in "The Dump" section :)

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Can't wait For Spring
« on: December 12, 2011, 01:43:33 PM »
Your weather is pretty much what we have now here in GA MovieMan.  I don't bother going to the flea at 7am anymore since you just have to be setup by 9.  Other then other vendors there just isn't a crowd early in the morning with temps in the mid 20s - 30s.  Once it gets in the 60s the crowds come out.

Right now the weather is suppose to be in the low of 50s and high of 70 for Thursday / Friday.  If that holds for Saturday I'll be out at the flea.  If there is a strong chance or rain and/or cold I may hit one of two auctions about an hour away from me this weekend.  Just will have to pick which one.

March is normally rain / wind.  Father already has a sun shade canopy that you buy from Walmart.  Going to put up some tarps for sides come March to combat the elements.

The Lounge / Re: Where can I sell these ovenmasters

Plus, if you can't sell them you can always scrap them.

Also - if you can't sell them as a whole unit look into if there is a market for the parts.  That is I assume both of them work and have been tested.

Ya - most of the yard sales in my area have dried up.  The flea is still going pretty strong.  Didn't make it out there this past weekend to sell or buy.  If nice weather this saturday I'm going to try and be there to sell.  One last push to clean out inventory before January.

They will be open from 7-12 on Christmas Eve but unless cut price in half not going to bother.  No idea what if anything they do for New Years.  Just as the cold sets in down south most people stay indoors.  Except for all the Storage Wars / Auction Hunters newbies.

Ya - I'd given the TV and all the wood stuff away for free just so I wouldn't have to deal with them.

The more I look at this picture the more curious I am.  Why is it the 1 tire is off by itself with the cover off so that you can see the lugnut pattern.  Almost as if someone was trying to stage what was in the unit.  Don't make sense as there wasn't much in there but I just keep coming back to that thought.

I bet there are more Georgians on here than people from any other state!

Welcome to the forum.

I think you are right MovieMan.  Seems at least once a month we get someone else new on the board from GA.  Hopefully all of ya'll stay up in Atlanta :)

Other then cloths (see same issue as above) - the smalls sell better for me then the bigs.  I had a nice oval drop leaf table on craigs for $100.  Never got any bites except for the junk mail people.  Then I hauled it to the flea on 3 different trips and cut price to $50, and then once at $40.  Lots of looks but still no takers.  Post it on craigs last sunday night and had 7 emails the next morning.  Sold that day.

Have a 2003, built in Vietnam, solid wood 6 big drawer, 2 1/2 size drawer dresser on craigs now.  It does have a 1/2 inch hole on one end like someone took a drill to it.  Few other nicks and scratches but would make a great kids dresser.  Have it up for $150 and only 1 person emailed so far, then he stood me up.  Yet, I sold both heaters, some tools, and few other things from the same unit the first time out with them at the flea.

Just all depends on your area I guess.

Well have 2 different facilities on tuesday coming up.  One starts at 10 and then at another location at 2.  The other starts at 11.  SecurCare has more units in the paper then the 11am facility.  Big difference other then # of units is SecurCare uses an auctioneer and thus you pay a 10% BP.  Other place is like most in this area and the regional manager, owner, local manager does the auction.

If the unit is still up for auction Tuesday around 10:30 I'll save my lunch break and hit the 2pm auction.  Very curious to see how many people come out just for the motor/car and what it goes for.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Young Children at Auctions
« on: December 10, 2011, 05:24:58 PM »
Lol Money - is why I take my kids, to load the truck.  Both girls like to "search" boxes and such.  I quickly pointed out to them in order to have fun doing the "hunt" they also have to do the other "work".  As such they help haul trash, load and unload the truck, etc.  My youngest quickly lost interest unless she spots something she likes.  My oldest works her tail off.  Not so much in the cleaning and hauling but at the flea market she sales like mad.

Guess as a parent I have more tolerance for kids at auctions then others do.  It's not till they get real annoying or such that I get a little irked.  Or they just have mouths on them that I'd backhand.  We have one of those at our auctions.  Some home schooled kid that his doctor of a grandfather brings out to these auctions all the time.  Real smart mouth on that kid.

Nice small locker to start out with.

I do have to ask - did the person that claimed the tv think it worked or was planning to scrap it?

Now a days even TVs that work - unless are flat screens or such you just about can't give away.  Even at 20 - 30 bucks they just dont' seem to sale in my area.

I'm glad someone is getting a or some decent lockers at a good price.  I'm starting to know how the rest of ya'll felt with the crowds and locker prices.

I'm in GA money so not too far from ya'll.

Fayettenam - if you keep getting computers and such look into taking the cases to the yard and storing up the cpu, cards, ram, and motherboard.  Once you start getting some weight in those areas you can make some money from the e-scrap people.  It just takes a number of computers and space to store it all of course.

eBay / Re: Ebay Buyers to Beware???
« on: December 10, 2011, 05:03:25 PM »
Ya monkey - the feedback issue is what gave me the idea to post.  Sold two items last week.  Both were received on thursday like promised.  Now I have one saying the item don't work.  I suspect he is using a newer ipod on a device I said would not work on 3rd gen or later ipods.  So for him - the item is not as advertised.  Answered his question and asked one of my own.  If he would answer me I'll just give him a refund despite my no return policy to save my 100% feedback (ebay since 97).  I really wonder however, even if I do all that if he will just put negative feedback anyways.

Looked on another guys item he purchased.  He left him negative feedback due to usps being a day late.  Even stated it was a usps issue and not seller.  So I'm torn between just keeping the $20 as I suspect going to get a negative no matter what I do.
