Rene From Storage Wars Stops By To Defend His Appraisal
« on: June 27, 2013, 08:16:44 PM »
So, we published an article on AuctionsTX.com the other day and in that article my writer Chuck made a comment about Rene's appraisal of the scarfs he found in a storage unit. Apparently Rene found the article and left his own comment. Here is the link if you want to check it out.

That's one thing we never really discussed that I've seen here regarding TV's "appraisals".. Copyright law.. Hermes scarves are very expensive and pretty easy to sell. I saw a few in a consignment shop/art gallery near where I might open my store. One had a $499 price tag on it. (a bit pricey in my book) ....(alright a lot pricey in my book) But in my area, they could command that being that they market themselves to the upscale types.

A lot of times with these upscale brands, which are probably more prevalent in that part of CA, they can't get into why the articles appraise for what they do.

I think if he had said "that's an expensive designer scarf" and not just designer scarf, might have made a difference. Or something such as "top-of-the line" or "high-end" anything to help the TV viewer understand it was a luxury item.

I doubted his appraisal of the scarfs as well. I knew there were nice scarfs out there but I had no idea that some of them were selling for $500 plus. No matter how good you get in this business, you can always learn something new. I don't even want to think about how much money I've lost over the years by underestimating the value of items. You live and you learn!
