Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Stupid people piss me off

Well so far on my hoarders unit ive found bout 6 or 7 avon items still in box that I might be able to sell to an avon vendor at the flea market for cheap an oil painting in good condition. Have to get that apraised or find out about it. Tuns and tuns of .25, .50. & 1.00 items for a garage sale. 11.90 in dimes. So after all my costs I think I might either break even or lose money.

Out of curiousity how the hell do you get rid of christmas items? I got so many now im about to start throwing them out.

How do you sell items that weigh 50-70lbs on ebay. How would you rate the postage and all?

General Storage Auction Talk / To trade or screw up?

Well a few weeks ago I posted asking how to get rid of items that arent selling and most of the responses  I got were to post on the barter sevtion of craigslist. Well I didnt post anything there. Instead ive been trying to sell my ps2 with all the goodies for a week now well this morning i get a txt asking if I would trade my ps2 lot for a set of... Yall ready... Bose in house speakers in near perfect condition. After talking to the guy he is a body tech but has been laid off due to the economy and his son is turning ten. Also his receiver went and his amp cant do it alone. So I traded the ps2 for the speakers. The speakers cost 639each new. Used they go for over 200. I was thinking taking them to either a consignment shop or posting them on CL. Any ideas on how to get rid of these. Sound systems are far from what I know.

Well today I wad the stupid person but at least I can make my money back. But the other auction is a different story. Will get to that in a bit. First my unit. It was a hoarders unit but I figured I would take a chance as an old lady owned it. Figured there would be something of value which I got partially right. I got run up to 90 on my own stupidity. But after going through it I figure I can make my money back with all the smalls plus the new floor sweeper in box and chrisrmas trees new still in boxs along with bunch of smalls still new in box. Might make a small profit I hope.
 Heres how dumb new people are in my area. A 5/10 only a push mower a power washer, wagon, some ceramic tall flower planters and a charcoal grill small one highest bid was 300. I bid 70 on a sealed bid then asked the lady highest bid then I left. Maybe a total of 150 dollars in there the other unit high bid was 4k. It was a double unit with tuns and tuns of tools rebuilt chevy engine with all the goodies quad motor cycle engine hoist and stand nice furniture tins and tuns of electronics and boxs. With everything I saw there was easily 8-10k worth of items. Engine alone was over 1500.

General Storage Auction Talk / Weather
« on: September 02, 2011, 07:57:18 PM »
Probably a noob question but how much does weather play into how many people show up for an auction? Theres two tomorrow that im going to and its supossed to thunder shower. Also since it snows where im at how does that effect people going to auctions? Would it deter the newbs or make them want to go even more? Any input would be great thanks.

Just got back from an auctipn today. 4units up for bid 3 10/20 1 5/10. Lots of stupid ass newbs. They kept talking about storage bors and such. This auction was run by blair auctions. First unit didnt have much in it just a shelf full of electronics like a stereo system an old range few boxs/totes and some other misc items. Went for over 500 I think it was. Second was no better some clear totes with christmas items misc furniture the cheapo kind tv old and some baby items went for over 400. My favorite was the 5/10. This was full of furniture maybe 100 dollars worth on craigslist is that. Couple boxs. The best thing which im guessing everyone was bidding on was a 9mm clip full of rounds. This lkr went for 675 or 625. Now comes the last lkr and this is how dumb the auctioneer was he started the bidding at 700 for a lkr that had some misc clothes on the wall a broke tool box with a small tool box on top a glider rocker a tote full of misc tools and a broke and nasty lokin range. Started that high for the tool boxs. The unit went for 425. I didnt bid on anything and neither did the vets I was talking to. There was no way any of these newbs made back there money. I told some of the vets that these people in a month will no longer be around if the keep being this dumb. Needless to say it was a waste of my time and gas. Sorry no pics I left my camera and my locks in my truck. Should have pics of the two auctions im going to tomorrow.

Yeah I will stop by it on my way home from the other auction. Pictures shouldnt be a problem as there just a bunch of arabs that cant speak much english. Probably wont see many looky-loos as I wont stay the whole time but staged units will be good to laugh at.

@chefj
 Theres a rv store next door so might get a free hotdog then hit the auction. The way I drive is a carnival ride in itself hehe.

theres thus auction comming up on saturday. Its from 12-4 and is a sealed bid auction. Drove by the pkace today and theres a sign announcing the auction. They are pulling most high value items out from the units for people to see. Also found out that its being run by habib his brother muhammad and his cousin dirka dirka. Yes its an arab run facility. These guys,are always shady. Should I even attempt to go to this auction or just let it go by?

 Hmm well you know the area better than I do down there but I know a 10/20 packed with lots of valuables goes for around 300-500 around me. The second theres an auction in saginaw and the third theres one in lapeer as of right now. Might want to look into them as the prices might be lower for better units than what your used to seeing. I plan on going to friday and saturday since flea markets will be packed next week. So will let you know the prices and I will try to take pics if they allow it.

By the way any news on oxfords auction today?

Ok first where is that auction at? Second the first unit I wouldnt bid over 150 and thats a long shot as most just looks like trash. Beds if in good condition might go for 25 each that table maybe 15 books 10 but who knows whats in the boxs. The second unit looks like its trash also as things are just thrown in there. The books seems to be a single cam if lucky would get 75 tops for it. Personally I wouldnt go over 120 but then might just break even.  Good luck on them.
