Storage Hunters, what a clever and unique name for a storage auction reality show; how ever did they come up with a name so catchy?
It looks as though TruTV is trying to cash in on the millions of viewers that shows like Storage Wars & Auction Hunters attracted, by spinning off of their failed storage auction reality show. TruTV timed the premiere perfectly, while Storage Wars and Auction Hunters were in between seasons. Since I can’t watch Storage Wars or Auction Hunters, this seems to be the only other option. It should be entertaining none the less.
The new show features former boxer Brandon Bernier and his wife Lori. I wasn’t able to find any information on Brandon’s boxing career which might explain why he got into acting. Apparently, Brandon and Lori Bernier are the Husband and wife duo that were in TruTV’s original attempt at a storage auction reality show, “Forbidden Storage,” which miserably flopped. It was tagged by critics as the most fake & most hated show on television. Despite it’s negative reviews, it appears that “Forbidden Storage” is getting a second chance under a new name. The last thing storage auction buyers need is another reality show about our business. The other shows did enough damage and things were just starting to level out a bit.
Recently, I watched a video by the “storage auction guru” who said that the release of this show was going to be a good thing for storage auction buyers. This guy has been out of the business for a while and has lost touch with what is really going on. Perhaps they should give him his own storage auction reality show. The guru said that because of the increased amount of traffic at flea markets, it is a good time to be in the storage auction business. I believe he was insinuating that the reality shows have had a positive impact on vendor’s sales.
In my opinion, this new show can only cause further damage. The more popular the storage auction reality shows get, the more people we will see at the auctions. The more people who attend the auctions, the higher the bids go. It doesn’t matter if you see an increase in sales if you can’t buy a storage unit at a reasonable price.

Fake Brandon and his wife (who just stepped out of 1982) Lori, are plenty enough reason to not watch. The only redeeming quality is watching Jesse stick it to them.

Scott and his wife were on Storage Hunters during the 2nd season, but aren’t any more due to his legal issues. Brandon & Lori got the Harleys.
this has too be the worst fake reality i have ever seen, theres usually only ever 5 at the most who buy stuff brenden and lori what a joke always stand in the same corner laughing while watching other people bid is ridiculous there is always some tarpolin in every single bin which is bullshit and yes to say hes a boxer is a joke just like like the fake fights they conjour up and its about time lori sorted her self out she looks as rough as hell get this shit off the tv

What a fake and stupid show! If Brandon is a former boxer, then I am a supermodel-he is a complete wimp, so how can he be a boxer? Guess he failed miserably, and he and the broad Lori are so unlikeable and look and act like trailer trash-what a joke. One show failed and I can see this one failing as well. Again, if he is supposed to be a former boxer and now an actor, then I am again a supermodel and the richest woman in America lol…
Who cares if it is staged or fake? It makes good tv. Wrestling is fake, people still watch it. Rednecks even buy the tickets to see it live. Any one know what else is fake but pulls in BILLIONS of dollars?????..

There were just a few clues as to the veracity of this show: They know who owned the bin? They find brand new expensive motorcycles? The Auctioneer travels with all of the other bidders across the country? The auctioneer stops in the middle of the auction to talk to the winning bidders? There is always something questionable in each episode, like something that looks like a meth lab, an ID theft bin? The bidders stop in the middle of an auction to get something appraised then return in time for more bin auctions and win 40,000 dollars in Harleys?
The biggest bull is the high price at which these auctions go for and the bid increments. This show was probably made by storage unit owners in league with some producer from TruTV to drive up the price at which units sell for and get some excitement going for TruTV which produces only fake TV shows. There is not one reality show on TruTV that is real. Their slogan should not be “Reality TV” but “B.S. TV”
How come every unit that is up for bid on Storage Hunters is so neatly put together? On Storage Wars, most of the time the units are packed to the top and messy as hell. And why is there always something good in every locker? They don’t even really search for things in the unit, they pick up a few things and viola, they find something amazing. Its like they already know where everything is.
Uh, they only show the good stuff…it’s called editing…
This show is fake fake fake, I’ve bought storages for 20 or more years, I’ve never found anything worth more that 300, at the most 1,000, I’ve traveled to other cities, spent 350 on a storage with nothing but nasty clothes, now the storage prices are going up, bidders are bidding 300-2000 for junk.

Just curious where you are finding these BONAFIDE critic reviews, although Ill admit I watched Forbidden Storage on Youtube, I have seen far worse than that show, it was entertaining, but blew Southern Fried Sting Ma’s Road House and about 100 others away, although because of those lame appraisers,the bald auctioneer, and the wannabe tough guy papa bear, the show sucked, the content and premise was still there for me, By far not the worst, just so you can set my mind straight where are these reviews? PS the show only aired once from what I can see and actually had more likes on youtube video than Auction hunters or Storage Wars, any input or were you simply magnifying your opinion?
It’s not very difficult to find these opinions, just Google “Forbidden Storage” and you will see plenty of negative comments. Just about every other entertainment website has labeled this show as unrealistic. I agree with you, there are far worse shows on television. I was reading some comments by viewers on TruTV’s Forum and they made some valid points.
1. The cast members have mannerisms that are inconsistent with those of professional storage auction buyers.
2. Every storage unit has hidden treasures that the auctioneer somehow knows everything about.
3. An auctioneer would never stop in the middle of an auction to review the items a buyer purchased.
4. Items in the unit look planted.
5. The auctioneer starts off the show calling bids with bleeps due to expletives. I have never seen an auctioneer conduct themselves in this manner in all my years. Most are highly professional and excellent at their jobs.
I understand that these shows must be entertaining otherwise they won’t be on the air for long but, surely they could inform the public about the truths of our business like how much work and time is involved or that you might have to buy 50 storage units before a really good one comes along.
Well, it’s official. Storage Hunters is nothing more than Forbidden Storage with a new name. I bet they didn’t even shoot any new episodes, they’re just showing the first season of Forbidden Storage that never made it on the air. At least we will have something entertaining to watch until the new episodes of Storage Wars premiere.

I can’t stand Brandon and Lori, they always get the best unit, why is this? Jesse is gay, Papa Bear is crazy, the black guy is off the planet and someone needs to sock Lori in the mouth. And why do they get mad when someone gets a unit and they don’t? This show is funny to watch.

The wife Lori is a moron. I really hated the episode where she had a fit because her husband bid on a locker with yankees memoribila. She pretented to be a big red sox fan and refused to go into the locker and walked away. She showed her stupid red sox tattoo she had on her arm. This is why I hate red sox fans and their pretend wantabees.

Hm, even a Swedish TV channel broadcasted some episode the other week. However so far I have only caught them broadcasting that single episode. Perhaps someone smelled the show isn’t quite genuine and reprogrammed the schedule with other documentaries and sports programs, we’ll see if I get another episode. But yes, the storage lockers I saw being auctioned contained a remarkable number of valuable and uncommon items, as well as some really odd combos like an almost unused deep fryer + smoke oven combined with a set of dragshow clothes, wig and stuffed bra – what kind of person would’ve kept all that in the same locker, some kind of crossdresser fast food stand for extra publicity?
Yeah it’s fake…those Lori & Brandon characters have to be THE LUCKIEST people on the face of the planet. They should try their luck @ the lottery. I mean they ALWAYS score the awesome bins. ALWAYS!!! Surely that luck will carry over into other ‘against the odds’ endeavors. The show sucks. Couldn’t even stomach a full episode.
I’m embarrassed for any TV channel that broadcasts this program. I LOVE watching storage wars, which appears to be genuine, but they have just started showing storage hunters in the UK on Channel Dave and after watching 5 minutes it was obvious it was fake. The show I saw was the one with the meth lab – are you kidding me?? This show should be forced to put a massive banner across the screen saying it is fictional.
Storage Wars is in litigation for “salting” units-placing fake stuff in to pump up rating. No such accusations have been made against Storage Hunters.

Storage units are the same as renting a house u CANNOT legally take personal items from any storage unit or rental house because of back rent all u can do is sue for the money owed!! personal property is just that it cannot be taken!! Example I buy a lot of homes at tax sales any personal property must be returned to the person who ownes it unless they do not want it anymore then u can do with it as u choose!!

You need to re-educate yourself. It happens all the time, when you sign the papers saying you want the storage unit there is a section that says something like ‘failed payment or non contact to pay payment for up to 3 months will cause us to cease the unit and your items’ this is how they pay for the missing ‘rent’.
Its completely legal. But yeah, this show is really bad. Lori has an annoying voice.
My niece was evicted from a house. She got 30 minutes to gather personal documents and mementos. The rest was kept and sold by the owner to recover some of his loss of rent. With storage bins, it is even easier. They just put another lock on the bin. You either pay the back rent or in a certain amount of time, the owner gets the bin. Some auction them, others have large rummage sales a few times a year. Personal documents must be returned, like birth certificates, but the rest belongs to the owner.
After being an avid watcher of the show……… it has always been very entertaining and tickled the “what if” thoughts that we all have! Otherwise we wouldn’t play the lottery!! It doesn’t surprise me that its probably a fake. I would prefer to see real lots regardless of value- just as entertaining in my view.

Yeah the show is most likely staged. As for the people saying “why they always get the good bins”, you have to remember its a program and they edit out the BORING parts. There’s been episodes where people have got crap bins..

It’s an entertaining show. Of course they edit it to make it good. Do you know how cheap it is to make reality TV? The camera guys can be there days in a row i bet and eventually enough good stuff makes a show. Imagine how boring it would be to watch a 24 hour webcam, that reality is always boring, editing makes it fun and amazing.
I just started watching this and from the get go it looked fake as a glass diamond! The very first episode, when they opened the unit there were wet boot prints into and out of the unit. The Storage shed owners remove the cusomer locks and put on their own after the customer has forfiet the unit by non payment. You don’t think for one minute they don’t go in and check that unti out for valuables before they sell it??? If I owned a storage shed business I would be the FIRST one in there!! I am nosey as hell! I want to know what kind of goodies they have and make them mine! Once the renters unit is forclosed on then legally it is now mine to do with what I want to recoup my losses, and besides that, I love seeing what other people are stashing!!!
These storage wars shows are full of poppycock, if it was real they wouldn’t have a very fun show to watch. The majority of the REAL people who buy these units at auction have second hand stors or flea market tables. People who put their stuff in storage are not storing grandmas silver or nana’s diamond rings. They store extra or old clothes, broken furniture, old toys, blankets, socks and sometimes tools and trinkets. If you had $50,000 woth of stuff in your storage unit do you think you may borrow some money from your best friend to get it out of storage before they change the locks??? You don’t get cars, jeeps, Harleys, gems, old guns and a whole host of other stuff like that! That is ANTI-REALITY!! And cutting the locks with the bolt cutter, that is just laughable! Those locks are put there by the storage unit’s property owners! They do that for a more drama. The only “reality shows” I like are “Judge Judy” (she is my hero!) and DR. G.
One more thing while I am here, that auctioneer on Storage Wars, the young bald guy, HE IS NOT an Auctioneer!! He just rolls his rr’s and thinks he is an auctioneer!! He sounds so STUPID!! Is there really anything good on tv anymore??

Storage hunters is a upgrade on storage wars like they were owned by wealthy people whilst storage wars is very basic house hold stuff usually with the odd rare lovely vauble treasures sometimes, ; storage hunters is real as I know all about jesse McClure and the auctioneer sean kelly, sean kelly Is a comedian on stage too and ive done lots of research on Jesse did you know as a child he was famous for getting stuck down a well hahaha love jesse thou lol

I watched ten minutes of one episode of this show. that was as much as I could stand from a bunch of failed wannabe actors. Anyone that watches any more of this rubbish needs to get out more and get a life, even just one between all of you, you can share it!
